[Introductions!] Who/Where Are We?
Well, we kinda needed this thread…

-Been with Talislanta ever since the Little Red Book. Couldn't even hazard a guess at my favorite edition although I'm currently loving 5th Edition. The Paths system has really filled in some of the gaps for me. Archetypes work for starting folks out in the game but Paths really assist the creative process and get people thinking about their characters.

Just getting back to RPGs and a good 15+ year hiatus. Discovered my old books in the basement and didn't even glance at my D&D and Marvel stuff, seen the Thrall on the cover and re-read the three Tal books I had. Then bought most everything else on the net over the next few weeks.
Looking forward to finding a game...

Been playing Tal since 88 and a huge fan of 4th edition and the reworked magic system. Most played race is probably Gnomekin or Sunra...gotta love fishmen...
Im really looking forward to the PDF releases scheduled for this year on the main site.

Chicago area game
I have been running a 5th Ed game for a while out in the western burbs of Chicago. I have dependable players, but I could use a few more.
I have been contemplating a Campaign reboot when the books go online, and everybody can view them for free at any time.
I am really considering changing the Learning Skills rules. If you have the XP, you can spend it on the spot. It takes 1 game day instead of 1 game week per XP point, and the days take place during game time. This gives PCs something to aim for in game, without taking months or years off. It may not work for all games, but it would for what I am considering running later on.

39 years old. Currently stuck in the Arizona desert until summer rolls around. Then I'll be moving back to the Northwest US. I miss trees, snow, and friendly people.

My younger brother got me into Tal--he got the 3rd ed. book for Xmas back in 1993, and we had a lot of fun with it. At one point he said to me, "Oh, man, wouldn't it be cool if you could draw for this game?"
"Yeah, right," I said. "That'll never happen!"
Such is life.

Introduction
Hello everyone,
Been a fan of Talislanta since its Bard Games editions. I was very lucky to meet and for a time befriend P.D. Breeding-Black. I was swept away by the wonderful alien quality of the game (I'm also a big fan of Tekumel) and have been running adventures in Talislanta through all of its editions.
My favorite is probably 4th edition, but for me each edition has had its good points and its short comings. I love the archetype character creation system over the pathway system because I always felt that the archetypes made players create characters that weren't basically the same old hack-n-slash alter egos. Several of my players have admitted that they would have never thought to play something like a scheming Hajaan underling, a Marukian Dung Merchant or a crazed Sindarin collector, but they have turned out to be some of the greatest characters of the campaign. Of course a GM needs to flexible and once Pandora's box was open I amassed quite a collection of unusual player characters ( we've had a Monad Rickshaw puller and a Mirin Courtesan for example)
Hope to hear from lots of other Talislanta players and GMs.

Hi all
I'm J.T. and live in London, England. Been gaming for over 30 years but only just started out with Talislanta having got hold of the blue book this week from a friend. New to the setting but not the rules having helped out with Jerry's Hellas game so looking forward to seeing how it works for fantasy.
Heard great things about this game and can't wait to get started.

I also had my copy of the little red book, I started gaming in the 6th grade with the Bard Games collection and I am not almost 34 years old and living in Milwaukee, WI. I just ordered myself the 5th edition and am trying to be optimistic that somewhere between Milwaukee and Madison area there might be another small collection of experienced Talislanta gamers looking to get involved again.

Tim Kirk, from Silverlion Studios,
I'm in Texas, state of my birth but have been many places.
Huge fan of Talislanta for a long time. Followed the going on for a bit then got busy with life, and just kept to my big blue book...
Still though a fan of Tal.
