ok smarty pants Attis, help me out here, ive been sitting here playing City of Villians the last few days, enjoying the heck out of my brute, when i got the wild and crazy idea to see if i could mimic their inherent power in GSA..

for those not in the know, Brute is like a tanker from City of Heroes, for those further not in the know, COH tanker isnt what I think of when i think of Bricks, basically a tanker can take damage, but generally it isnt his purpose to deal it, he is there solely to keep the enemies focused on him (scrappers are the main melee damage dealers)... see thats totally not my concept of what a Brick is, however along comes Brutes in COV, they do not have the same inherent power of holding aggro (baddies anger, basically), their inherent power is called Fury

here is the blurb on the cov website describing what a brute is, does and what fury does

Brutes live to fight, and as a Brute, you will revel in hand-to-hand combat. With strong offensive Power Sets designed to inflict pain and impressive defenses to take it, you're the best there is in a straight melee fight. Protracted battles only make you mad, and the madder you get, the more damaging your attacks become. You build up Fury as you attack and are attacked, multiplying your base damage potential dramatically. This unique combination of powers makes your strategy one of speed and aggression.

Fury builds up as you attack, the bar for game stat purposes goes from 0-100 the idea i had for a power similiar to it just using my GSA book (i dont have d6 powers as of yet) would be something like

Fury (cost probably 6 or 8)
Range: n/a

each rank taken in Fury allows you to build up an amount of dice to add to your damage, starting at 1d (maybe a +1? who knows, gotta balance) per hit each time you hit you add more up to your full value any down time between combat (gm discretion) takes away double that amount (2d or +2 per second of downtime)

the balancing feature is: 1.) the cost, it shouldnt cost as high as ka manip, but shouldnt be cheap either, the 6 cost version would be for the +1 pip version, 8 for the +1d version 2.) fury will only build up so much in fights, so in the long run you may only get 3/4's of your fury anyway, unless its a huge pitched battle.

now the thing is, this inherent power of Brutes is just that, its something that is on all the time, they dont have to worry with it, and in fact its not really even part of their power set (except that if you play a brute you have no choice but get that inherent power, like playing a palladin in D&D comes with a stick to.... nevermind.)

ideas?... is this something already covered in GSA or in d6 powers, is this idea doable?

If I understand correctly you’re looking for a power or effect that will allow your character to become more powerful the longer he stays in combat, right?

In the original core book I would suggest building the characters using the Enhancement power with the limitation that he has no control over the power. I would give him about 10 ranks of the power and he would only be able to use dice in the power equal to the rounds of combat that he’s been in. if he was in combat for 3 rounds he would have access to 3 ranks of the power, if he was mixing it up for 7 round he could use 7 ranks of the power. The power would also have the limitation only usable on self and only to enhance his physique so the effect would be very narrow and with all the limitations the power would be fairly cheap.

In the D6 POWERS book there is a power called Boost
This power works a lot like the Enhancement power but is already more narrowly focused on the character. I would give him the same power limitations. Both would work to make a Hulk type character which is what Fury seems like its trying to emulate.

You could also do the same thing by putting a limitation on his super attribute to come up with the same effect.

Hopefully that helps

If not Ill go sit in the corner and cry

haha, i'll have to look into both options and see what would more fit the concept.. possibly even a diadvantage on the power (can wee do that?!... add advantages/disadvantages.. redcap in the book seems pretty much nuts, not likely having to do with his powers directly, but i dont want someone using something called Fury and then being able to discuss the finer points of origami)
