What can I say but GREAT!!!!!
Question, you mention that the PDF version will be for sale next week and the printed several months later. Does this mean from brick and motar stores??? OR, can you get the printed version from your website any sooner...
Again, great job!

Clarification of missing text. It seems that when using the Mac OS X built in pdf reader, Preview, some of the pictures block out some of the text. The same doesn''t happen with adobe reader. Any thoughts??

When you publish the printed version, will it be updated from the current downloadable version (errata, etc.), or will it be the same thing??
Are you still thinking about doing a color limited run?
Thanks,

I finally decided what the plan is for the hardback color version of D6 POWERS. Doing a color hardback is very expensive made doubly so since the print run will be extremely small. Ill e printing these books to order so if you want one I will be taking preorders orders until the end of April 14th. That will give me enough time to have the book printed with the print run of the soft cover edition of the book which will be out in May.
Since the books will be printed to order the books need to be prepaid. The price per book will be $35.95, $10 more than the soft cover black and white. The book will also include a digital copy of the book on disk as an added bonus.
If your interested in getting a copy email me at countzero@godsendagenda.com. The easiest way to handle the payment is with paypal.
Thanks!

Are cybernetics/bionics covered at all in Powers? I've got D6 Adventure, and really don't want to have to get D6 Space just for cybernetics.

Are cybernetics/bionics covered at all in Powers? I've got D6 Adventure, and really don't want to have to get D6 Space just for cybernetics.
Cybernetics are built just like any other power or enhancement. If the character has cybernetic limbs that make him stronger then he would have super Physique attribute. Maybe he would have a limitation on his super strength such as it shorts out when ever he encounters strong magnetic forces or some such. A cybernetic eye would have the infrared vision or super sense (telescopic).
Bionics and cybernetics are essential reasons or concept ideas or excuses for the character to have super human abilities and advantages.
Below is an example of a cyborg character. Taken from GODSEND Agenda
U.S.E.R. Combat Cyborg
Archetype- Warrior
Reflexes 3D, brawling 4D, dodge 4D, melee combat 4D,
Coordination 3D, marksman 5D, throwing 4D
Physique 7D, stamina 8D
Presence 3D, command 4D, persuasion 4D, willpower 4D,
Knowledge 2D, tech 3D, security 4D
Perception 3D, investigation 4D, repair 4D, search 4D
Advantages: Extra Body Points (3), Hard to Kill (1)
Disadvantages: Hindrance: Angry (1)
Powers: Infrared Vision 2, Life Support 2, Super Senses (sight and hearing) 3, Body Armor 2
Move: 10. Strength Damage: 1D. Fate Points: 0. Character Points: 2, Ka Points: 6, Body Points: 41
Equipment: U.S.E.R. Standard issue, U.S.E.R. Exo-Assault suit
2
Gadgets and other artifacts that can be taken away from a player are covered in great detail and offer a price break since the power can be taken away from the player.
A gadgets s listed below
Molecular adhesion gear
Toughness: 1D
Power: Wall Crawling 1
Gadget modifiers: Obvious
Notes: Gloves and boots that molecularly adhere to any surface and allow the user to climb wall and stick to surfaces
Point cost: 1
Hopefully that helps you and offers you a bit of insight into how the D6 POWERS book works and handles such concepts.

I was going to suggest basically what Jerry just did.. the point of GSA isnt what kind of ways someone got or has their powers, its more that they have them..
i can have 5 different characters all with super strength, but one has gloves, another has a magic ring, another gets strong when he eats something... etc
all of that comes from roleplay, whereas some games makes that an active part of the game, such as Mutants and Masterminds, and Heroes Unlimited
These concepts are not nessecarily frowned upon, but from a gamer perspective we really dont care, we just want to play, thinking back to our heroes of yesteryear (and today) it really doesnt matter if a guy is invulnerable because of armor or not, except that when it comes to armor (not body armor power, armor as in a suit of armor) you have to deal with gadget rules..
now then, having said all this, my original thought was actually to just run cybernetics as gadgets.

Here is an update
The printer is taking a bit longer than I expected. The books should have been done this week and on the way to my home. The reason he gave for the delay was a good one so I cut him some slack.
The reason: He wants the books to be perfect. Since I told him the books were a special edition premium order he wants to get every aspect of the book right.
Another factor is that since the print run is fairly small as far as print runs go he is personally binding each book.
Once the books arrive at my home I plan on putting the rest of the goodies in the book and shipping them out.
I know that everyone who ordered their book wants it now. I can understand because I want mine too!! I’m waiting on my hardback so that I can start a new game as well and I’m even starting to have dreams about the book (a weird post apocalyptic dream or martial arts, road warriors and a copy of D6 Powers)
I’m asking everyone to hold on just a bit longer. Believe me, I’m hounding them to get it done but I also want the best possible book for both you and myself.
Just so everyone is in the know Ill et you know when they ship from the printer, When they arrive at my home and when I ship them back out to you. I don’t want anyone kept in the dark here.
Thank you for being patient
prophet118

So what did the print run for the hardcovers end up being?
Jerry D. Grayson

The print run is very small. I ordered 25 books
I did the books so that both the fans and I could have a color hardback copy of the book. I also wanted to try my hand at designing a color book.

No, you didn’t miss anything but it can be easily added. Personally I build my ships using the Force Field Power or Force Shield power.

When you do "reprints," etc...are you planning on adding in revisions or additional material?? Will future publications note that somehow (version number, printing number, etc).
The book looks great. I got the color copy. The BW should be coming soon (I think you said). I am being gentle with it as I want it to be a collectors item so when you are rich and famous I can sell it for retirement. You know, it looks so I good, I wish I had gotten two of the color. Anyway, great job on this book.
Maybe you could create a section on your website that lists things you "officially" add to the book for free download.
From your response of "easily added," does that mean you are going to add something?

Yes.
Being a small publisher who is taking advantage of POD printing means I can update the book with every printing. I don’t want to abuse the advantage by updating and fiddling with the book at ever print rough though. I want the book you have to be compatible with the next printing. When I change something Ill post it on the site so that everyone can have access to the information
The books will have a revision and date in them when revised

LOL, you and me both. I’m very gentle with my DC Heroes book since they have become so hard to find.
You know, it looks so I good, I wish I had gotten two of the color. Anyway, great job on this book.
I’ve been talking to my printer and my fulfillment house about that. I may sell a color version of the book on the Key20 website for $45. It wouldn’t have the CD in it and the cover wouldn’t say special edition. The reason for making the book $45 is pure economics. The color special edition cost $30 per book to print using a POD service. I wish I could say I made money on the book but I didn’t and further more it was a bit of work to keep tack of who and where the books were going. I didn’t mind doing it because the folks who wanted a book were very enthusiastic and I really wanted to see the book in color as well.:p
If I could do a print run of 1-5000 books and KNOW there was a demand and I could sell them I could offer the books at a more reasonable price. Publishing is very rewarding but a very harsh business, especially in the RPG market. If I didn’t love this hobby Id spend my money on more sensible things like DVDs, comics, and Cds:D
The folks who own a special edition book are part of an exclusive club.
Maybe you could create a section on your website that lists things you "officially" add to the book for free download.
From your response of "easily added," does that mean you are going to add something?
I have a few things in mind but until I work them out I have to say mum. One thing I was thinking about was the shield option along with arcs of defense but I’m not sure if I will or not. One of the problems also is space. I want to keep the book the same size so space is at a premeium.
kehrer1701
06-15-2006, 02:16 PM
I checked to see, on page 118 there is still about half a page open. It seems, since the top of the page deals with "armor," that "forcefields" could be just underneath and complete that page and round out the info. Just thought that would be a great addition for those designing starships and smaller craft for thier games.
What do you think? Would it be difficult to do and then just post on your website as "d6 Powers addional material?"
GreatBucketGod
06-19-2006, 12:28 PM
One option for "gaining" space would be to take the templates at the end of the book and create stat blocks for them instead of devoting entire pages of partial character sheets to them.

Hey gang,
I have some good and bad news. The bad new1st…I got a call from the printer today saying that there was a problem with the current print run. I figured he was talking about the actual file that the book was printed from but he wasn’t , he was talking about the finished printed book. The book has a page in it that he didn’t catch that’s printed BLACK. He suggested a few fixes to get the books through but I didn’t want to sell the book with a sticker or insert in the book with the misprinted page. I have a ton of books in stock that I refuse to ship to distributors since they are obviously flawed.
The good news is that I have a ton of books that are obviously flawed and would be willing to sell real cheap. If anyone is interested in buying the D6 Powers book and didn’t have the money now is your chance. I have books that I need to get rid of cheap. I need to recoup my loss so I plan on selling the books for $11.95 instead of $25.95.
If anyone is interested in getting on of these rare “collector “copies of the book let me know. Like I said the only flaw is one black page. What I would be willing to do is send anyone who bought book a PDF of the page to print out and put in the book.
Anyone interests please send me an PM.

Did this include the "special" color editions??
Does this defect include the regular book that is on the way to me (from our previous email)??
Just trying to clarify.

No
The Special color edition is fine and the book you bought is fine. There is a 2nd print run of book that was fouled. I had to do another print run to replace those. I refuse to let those books go into distribution but anyone who wants to buy a copy can.

Thanks for the info.
I look forward to seeing my BW version. Hope to get it soon.
Again, this is a really GREAT book!
Any thoughts about adding defense shields/forcefields to the official page under gadgets/vechicles?

Did you want to see shields that work like the ones in the D6 Space book? Ones that protect a particular arc?

I must admit, I dislike the shield arc thing in the d6 space book.
I really like the way you do the forcefield power in the book. The way I look at the, a vehicles shield should either draw from a pool...meaning you have 30pts of "hits" that are absorbed/deflected...after that, the shield is down. Reinforcment, reflective, can attack through, or even a shield that only protects from one side could be worked in. Perhaps just take the current forcefield power and adapt it to a vechicle application.
I think on this a bit more...
Under the vehicles section: there is weapons discussion and then armor discussion. A new section added thereafter "forcefields" or "energy defenses" might be nice reflecting (pun?) something to the idea above.
Am I thinking correctly here?
Thanks for listening.

Why not just build the vehicle with the force field power? If you wanted you can use the force shield instead.
The problem I see with incorporating an entire section on something that already exist in the book would be redundant.
What I’ve tried to do is create systems that are completely unique with as little overlap as possible. Weapon damage is a bit different from damage inflicted by power and armor works a bit differently than Body Armor of Force Fields.
I’ve tried to replicate the attributes of a gadget that can’t be replicated any other way. That’s why vehicles have aspects that can’t be replicated by a power like cargo space and size classes. The gadget rules try to be concise without a lot of minutia and fiddly bits. You could by all means add an additional attribute to space ship to reflect a shield.
Shield Screen
Shield Screen is how much damage is reduced per attack. This screen is ablative; any dice used to negate damage in a given round cannot be used to block other attacks in the same combat round. Dice may be split up to negate damage from multiple attacks.
The Screen regenerates at the beginning of each round.
Cost Effect
4 points per 1D6 defense rating
2 points per +1 pip (maximum of +2)
-2 points per -1 (maximum of -2)
Hopefully that helps a bit. Id like to see what types of ships you’ve come up with.

Wow, I like it. Perhaps "that" example in the book under that section as a side note to the armor part?? I like what I see in that post, I will see what happens. Thanks for posting it.
PS Have you thought about doing another pre-order for the color book? Or atleast poll to see if anyone who didn't make it in on the first run wants to now (OR sees how awesome their color version is and wants a spare)?
