One the character's in my game is gadgeteer. The group is trying to come up with a common motif to give the team a theme. They've decided that they should all have swords. Now one of the other characters has asked the gadgeteer to make her a sword through which she channel her power to do "funky stuff". So far all their doing is just talking about it. What I'm wondering is who should pay the character point cost of creating the item. The gadgeteer who is making it or the character who will actually be using it?

I'm tempted to say the latter as the gadgeeter player will not gain much from creating the item.

I’d suggest making the player who wants the gadget to pay the cost since they will be benefiting from the item. I like the idea of a unified team look (and now the amount of sword on your characters makes a bit more since:)) Seen here (http://moblog.co.uk/blog/blaster219 )

Having a team motif is actually talked about in the GODSEND Agenda: Mythos book. Having a team look will get the players what is called Renown. Renown will get the players more Ka since people will come to identify the players with their costumes and uniform (a kind of hero worship that channels Ka).
