Okay, I must be missing something.
Re: the power Super Attribute
The cost of Super Attribute reads:
"Super attributes cost the same as normal attributes, but once they exceed the racial norm for that attribute they are classified as Super." (p. 40)
According to the book, the cost to raise an attribute is:
"to boost an attribute by one pip costs 10 times the number before the attribute's 'D' in Character Points." (p. 26)
This is said to be the "first way" characters can improve their attributes. There is a "second way" mentioned as well:
"the gamemaster requires all adult characters to take the Super Attribute Super Power (discussed in the "Super Powers" chapter) in order to improve their physical and mental attributes. There is no maximum with this method." (p. 26)
Thus, we seem to have a loop where the first reference leads to a second reference which reflexively leads to the first reference.
Yet, still, this situation wouldn't be so confusing if not for the fact that, upon looking at the NPCs (Patriot and Aryan Superior come to mind) where the power point totals seem far too low compared to the amount of points it would cost for these NPCs to have their Super Attributes at those levels.
For example, Super Aryan has a Physique at 12D. Assuming he began with the human maximum of 5D, it would seem that his cost of raising to 6D would be [(5x10)+(5x10)]=100 points. How, then, did he get a 12D Physique with 198 points to build his powers?!
I might have been able to work backward from point totals effectively and discover my errors, but we aren't ever told how many levels of Super Attribute any of the characters have.
All in all, I feel very confused, and would greatly appreciate SOMEBODY helping me out and pointing me to the rule or passage I must be missing.
Thanks!
