Ok it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything but I decided to finish of the Dyna-mite character. Originally he was going to be a hero of some sort but Attis suggested ages ago that I try to create a villain. So here he is and he happens to be the first one I’ve ever designed.

Any comments, good :) , bad :mad: or indifferent :confused: would be appreciated

BASIC CONCEPT:

Matthew O’Connell was born into an Irish family steeped in the inner workings of the IRA. It was therefore no surprise that at an early age he started doing errands for his father and grandfather.
By the time he was in his teens he was an expert in explosives and security systems. At the age of 20 he was picked to head a cell, their first mission to raid and army base that held a new type of high explosive that was totally undetectable by normal means.

The mission was a success until they crashed the van in the getaway chase the explosives went off killing all in the van and destroying about half a mile of country side plus the two jeeps of military police chasing them.

The funny thing was O’Connell didn’t die the blast ripped his body apart at an atomic level and in that split second combined with his DNA minutes later he materialized next to the burning wrecks in one piece.

Slipping away into the surrounding area he managed to get to one of their safe houses and get a message back to his father. O’Connell senior soon realised that by all the laws his son should have been dead. He took him along to a doctor friend of his who had sympathies with the course and from there many tests were done. It was found out that Matthew’s body was now unstable and it was only his mind that was keeping him together.

With practice he was able to let his hold go over his molecules with explosive effect. But only if he reduced his molecules down to the smallest they could go (this made him physically the size of an action man doll (12”). At this size he can release some of his molecules in controlled bursts allowing him to leap great distances and is also able to see in the dark by mapping the area around him by the molecules given off by his surroundings. One last side effect of his power is the ability to regenerate damage. This is done only after he has exploded while combining his molecules back into shape he steels molecules from surrounding items and uses them to fuel the healing process, this is done subconsciously.

Knowing what his new found powers meant to the IRA he was sent to America to hire himself out to other terrorist and super villain groups to raise money to fund the IRA back home.

Over the years O’Connell has lost all sense of morality he will blow himself up in a nursery school full of kids as blow himself up in the middle of a world leader’s conference as long as he gets paid no job is out of bounds.

I'll write up a post this weekend on how it went. Dyna-Mite will be a henchmen of one of the villains in my game.

During my Friday night game last night I used one of JT’s characters Dyna-Mite.

The Players charcters are based in the Chicago area. Most of the adventure really isn’t pertinent here since I’m posting to tell everyone how JT’s character faired in actual play.

Players:
Dr. Adrianna Koski a high flying blaster with an almost impenetrable force field
Malik Al Sahad a super nimble street fighter wielding a bat)
Nox Mortis Chimeran with the power to manipulate and animate shadows and teleport through them
Misty Whitehall A 12 year old girl given the U.S.E.R. super serum by her grandfather(a USER scientist) to save her life. Super strong and invulnerable.

The players in the week prior defeated a group of Black October members who unearthed an artifact called the Celestial engine. The engine was handed over to USER who took it to their high-tech labs for study. The artifact is an incredible powerful Orichalcum engine used in arcane and eldritch ceremonies by the Atlanteans. Lost thousands of years ago Black October unearthed its whereabouts and destroyed an apartment building to get at it.

Weeks pass, the Players move on to other adventures…

During the course of last nights game the old textile factory located downtown is attacked by a group of hi-tech mercenaries. Misty immediately recognizes the building as the place her grandfather works (the secret USER facility). She and the rest of the group race down there hoping to stop the mercenary assault on the building.

When the players arrive they see the building surrounded by a group of well armed mercenaries surrounding the parameter and a large smoking hole in the building’s side.

Dr. Adrianna Koski recognizes the mercenaries uniforms as those of the mercenaries used by the villain Sovereign. Malik sneak up around back of the building using stealth, Nox melds into the shadows and travels closer to the building, and Dr. Koski holds back with Misty to study the scene further. At that moment a stocky sullen man walks out of the hole in the building and starts barking orders (Dyna-Mite).

*****Initiative is rolled and combat starts*****

Figuring this is the one responsible for the attack on the building Misty leaps into action…literally…she jumps 80 meters out of her hiding spot into the middle of the group of mercenaries. She stumps her foot upon impact with the ground creating a shock wave that stuns or incapacitates most of the surrounding mercenaries, all except Dyna-Mite.

Misty asks Dyna-Mite who he is and what has he done to her grandfather. Dyna-mite replies in a very bad Irish accent (the only one I can do) that’s he doesn’t know her grandfather and that his name is DYNA-MITE. He shrinks down, jumps toward the little girl and explodes in her face.

ROUND 2
Malik is on top of the building by now and manages to sneak up on the three mercenary guards. He kicks one into another and sends them both flying off the roof. The last turns and fires his machine gun but misses.

Nox Mortis appears from shadows and envelopes 4 guards in an inky blackness. He animates some of his darkness and grapples two of the mercenaries with night spawned tentacles and holds them in place. The two remaining guards shoot blindly into the darkness ineffectually.

Dr. Koski flies up blasting one of four mercenaries into unconsciousness and deflects the incoming machine gun fire with her force field.

Dyna-Mite jumps around the 12 year old Misty Whitehall exploding again. Getting sick of being blasted about buy the diminutive villain, she grabs a hold of him with both hands so that she can start pounding him later. A mercenary runs up behind Misty and knocks her to the ground.

ROUND 3
Dyna-Mite tries to explode again but can muster enough power for the detonation (rolled lousy and got a 1 on the wild die). Misty (still holding the pint sized menace) punches the closest mercenary in the head. This attack knocks the mercenary out and stuns Dyna-Mite.

Malik lays into the last mercenary on the roof with is bat hitting him 4 time, beating him into torpor. Malik then does an acrobatic flip off the roof of the building and lands in the middle of another group of mercenaries who shoot at the dodging vigilante in vain.

Nox Mortis uses the ebon tentacles he’s generated to crush the mercenaries in his grip. The mercenaries fighting Nox try everything in their power to affect Nox, but the darkness protects Nox from most major injury.

Dr. Koski flies to the assistance of Malik blasting another mercenary and deflecting another hail of bullets.

ROUND 4

Nox Mortis rips the armor away from the two held mercenaries with his tentacles of pure darkness and quickly dispatches them with a flailing assault on their now unprotected forms.

Malik becomes winded and manages to not hurt a single villain this round (several poor damage rolls negated by the villains armor) but takes a few bullets to the chest that he manages to shrug off with his kinetic energy absorption power. Dr. Koski does her best impression of the Death Blossom from the movie the Last Starfighter taking out another two overmatched mercenaries

Dyna-Mite realizes that he can’t break the steel grip of Misty Whitehall and tries desperately to blast his way to freedom. He explodes doing a reasonable amount of damage to Misty..but when the smoke clear she is still standing and he is still in her grip. He explodes again doing more damage but he quickly realizes the only real damage he is doing is to his chances of defeating the twelve year old girl who promptly socks him in the nose.

ROUND 5
Malik gets his wind back and pounds the last of his targets into submission and turns to go inside the smoking hole in the side of the textile factory.

Nox Mortis melts into his darkness and reappears behind the other mercenaries assaulting him and both feel the icy embrace of his animated tendrils.

Dyna-Mite, fighting off unconsciousness, tries once more to break the grapple of Misty with an explosion. Mist Whitehall may be 12 but the A.E.G.I.S. serum her grandfather gave he as a child gave her incredible stamina and resistance to physical trauma. She decided to finish him with another punch to his doll like head.

Dyna-Mite is incapacitated.

The remaining mercenaries drop their weapons and give up. Dyna-mite resumes his regular size and is carried by Misty into the secret USER base.

******End of Combat*****

The adventure continues with misty looking for her grandfather, the exploration of the secret USER facility, and Sovereigns theft of the Celestial Engine.



Dyna-Mite was a really tough character and dealt out a lot of damage, roughly over 100 points in 5 rounds of combat. He would have faired better fighting against Dr. Koski, Nox, or Malik, but Misty is the resident brick and could take tons of damage and had him in a grapple for most of the combat.

I plan on using the other characters you’ve posted here in the future as villains or competing super humans the players encounter.

Hi there Attis,

Glad you had some fun with Dyna-Mite pitty he wasn't strong enough to take care of Misty (beaten by a 12 year old really!!!)

I agree with you though if he had gone up against any of the others then there would have been a lot of blood spilt especially dishing out 100 damage points in five rounds that's quite damaging.

I will try to add some stats to the characters I've posted as and when I can but juggling work and a 10 month old little girl takes up most of my time at the moment.

If you do use any of the characters in your campaign and write up their stats please post them here, I'd love to see how you see the characters gaming wise.

Do you think Dyna-Mite will make a return appearance? I would think the humiliation of being beaten by a little girl would be too much for his ego to take and he'd want to get revenge on Misty. :D

He most will assuredly make another appearance. He was defeated by a little girl for crying out loud. They had to leave Dyna-Mite when they went chasing after the Sovereign, so who knows what happened to him.
