The following text is already posted on my web page (http://www.noapologiespress.com/zer0comics/), so I'll just copy-and-paste it to save myself some time.

Well, shoot! Turns out My comic "Bento & Starchky", which was previously nominated as one of the candidates for the 2005 Eisner Awards, was not acceptable as a nominee after all. The reason for this being that I accidently misread the rules, which stated that the majority of the comic had to have been published in the year 2004, which was a requirement for being awarded an Eisner. This is because the Eisner is an award which is awarded for the best comics in the year previous to this one. So, no Eisner for zer0, I'm afraid. At least not this year!

Not surprisingly, this makes me feel somewhat sad. But fear not, I'll not let a little thing like missing out on the "Oscars of comics" hold me back! Instead, I'll try to get nominated again next year, when I have lots of material which was published in the year of 2005!

I still wish to extend my sincerest thanks to the Eisner judges for choosing me. And also to all of my readers for reading my stuff! Hell, even getting nominated for an Eisner in the first place makes me feel proud. So here's looking at you!

zer0's personal comment to everyone at NA!P: I'm really sorry guys! I didn't know when I submitted my comic that the bulk of it had to have been published the year before (in this case: 2004). So, I guess you can call off the hotel reservations. Sorry. Really sorry, in fact.

Of course, I could still come over to CA and visit y'all. I guess. It's just that the Eisner is out of the question this year. Of course, as stated above: even getting nominated for an Eisner in the first place makes me feel proud.

Again: I'm sorry to have disappointed you.

Actually, when they nominated me, I only had two comics up! I'm obviously so much better than everyone else. Or something. Yup.

Say, Carlos! I got the perfect idea for a custom title you can use here at the forums: The Swedish Chef!

But I already bought air fare! And a hotel! And tickets to the comiccon! Man, I am so upset and disappointed with you. Our relationship will never recover from this fiasco.

Actually, no big deal. So you jumped the gun a little. Just keep making the comics and you're sure to be nominated again next year. Oh! And see who wins this year and make your comic more like the winning comic. Yeah! Like, if it's the mom cancer one, make Bento get colon cancer and die and make it all weepy and life affirming.

I think it'd be better as a coming of age story. Bento could fall in love with a cute little red-haired girl, and lose interest in the B&S misadventures, but then ends up going to Iraq with his socially-active girlfriend to direct attention towards civilian deaths by military actions and is killed in a massive friendly fire misunderstanding between Japanese and Australian troops, just as Starchky is realizing that the one thing he'd never told his friend was that he loved him! oooh, it's getting my dick hard already.

A B&S ripoff on that cancer comic, huh? Hmm. It could be called "Bento's Cancer". And I definetely think the phrase "Smoke the bones of your grandfathers!" should be in there somewhere.
