View Full Version : JT's Roll Call
Hi all,
Below are some backgrounds to characters I've developed for other supersystems. I will get around to statting them up for GA sometime soon but any feed back and suggestions on how to put their powers together would be appreciated:
Character 1 : Mirror
When Charlie was two his mother and father died in a car accident and Charlie went to live with his uncle on his uncle’s farm.
His uncle was a mean spirited old man and hated having to provide for his younger brothers off spring especially one so young. Being on a remote farm the social workers tended not to visit regularly and the old man took to locking Charlie in his room for days at a time to keep him from under his feet. This practice became more and more regular as the boy started to grow until his uncle only unlocked the door to feed him and this soon only happened once a day.
Charlie’s room was cold and damp. There was one bare light and a switch in the hall, which his uncle would put on while Charlie ate in the evenings so most of the nights were spent in darkness, controlled this. There was a broken metal bed frame with a worn out old mattress on it, two blankets and a pillow. Next to the bed was a small table, which Charlie used for eating at. There was a dirty old window opposite his bed through which he sometimes watched his uncle working the fields. There were two doors into his room one to the hall the other to a small bathroom in here was a cracked sink, his only constant supply of water, a bath which only produced cold water and a mirror.
With no one to talk to Charlie soon retreated into his own mind. Making a world for himself where he could see other children the dirty mirror in the bathroom. Here he would spend hours every day just looking into the mirror wishing he could be there with them. By the age of seven he was talking to these imaginary friends and they would teach him to read and write. Although for most part he was lonely Charlie was always happy to visit one of his playmates.
Around the age of nine Charlie discovered something truly amazing about the mirror in his bathroom, if he concentrated he could push his hand through it as if it was water, and if he wished hard enough he could exit into the bathrooms of his imaginary friend’s houses and actually play with them. With practice this ability became second nature to him, all he’d have to do is think of one of his friends and step through and he was there.
By the age of thirteen Charlie had many hundreds of friends from all round the world. Other things started to happen around this time as well instead of having to think about his friends he could step through the mirror and exit into another room, he called this place mirror land as there were millions of mirrors stretching into infinity all round him. By looking into these mirrors he could see other rooms, streets houses, buildings, it suddenly started to dawn on him that these other places were as real as his own room that his mirror land was his connection to the outside world.
One evening after his uncle had passed through to him his left over evening meal Charlie went into the mirror land. He browses for a few hours until he came upon a little girl crying. She was about six years old and was hiding down between the bathtub and the sink. She was looking way from the mirror towards the bathroom door. Following her gaze Charlie saw a large man standing there shirt open to the waste belt in hand and he was shouting something at the girl. He steps to wards her and raises the belt. Charlie knew what was going to happen next having received a good hiding from his uncle on many an occasion. Not being able to bear seeing the young girl beaten or even worse Charlie surged through the mirror.
It took the brute a few seconds for his brain to tell him that yes the mirror had come alive and standing in front of him was a vaguely human shaped thirteen year old boy made out of glass. Charlie took advantage of the mans delay and went to grab his belt hand only to be stunned when out of his fingers shot a bolt of intense white light, as the brightness dimmed Charlie found himself standing over an unconscious body. Not wanting to be around when the brute woke up and not wanting to leave the girl in danger he did the only thing he could think of, he picked the sobbing girl up of the floor and leaped back into the mirror.
Back in mirror land he was able to calm down both himself and his guest. Sitting there with his arms round the little girl for comfort he soon realised she had fallen asleep. This allowed him to get his thoughts into focus and decide what to do. He couldn’t bring her to his room, his uncle would go spare. Suddenly Charlie hit on an idea. Waking the girl he asked if she had a relative she could stay with, she said her grandmother loved her but lived a long way away and since her mother had died her dad had stopped her visiting. He then asked her if her gran had a mirror, yes she had a beautiful table mirror in her bedroom that the little girl used to sit at while she had her hair brushed before bed. Charlie got her to describe it in as much detail as she could. Once he had a picture in his head he went into mirror land searching for it.
It took him three days to locate two mirrors that might have been her gran’s. Over these three days Charlie would revisit his room just before tea and wait until his uncle had left the food. He would then take it and re enter mirror land and share it with Jennie. On the third night Charlie and Jennie sat in front of the first mirror waiting for the inhabitant of the room to enter, much to the little girls disappointment the lady that entered was not her gran. Soon they were standing in front of the last mirror. Looking at them brushing her hair was an elderly lady getting ready for bed. Jennie jumped for joy it was her gran. She wanted to go to her there and then but Charlie held her back. It would be a shock for her if they were to just appear out of the mirror it would be better to do it when she was asleep.
A couple of hours later granny was asleep and holding Jennie’s hand Charlie stepped through the mirror and into the bedroom. Quietly he indicated to Jennie to go over to the bed and gently wake the old lady. Stirring from her sleep the old girl was more than a little surprised to see her granddaughter sitting next to her. She explained what had happened and introduced her to Charlie. There was at first a look of fear on the old woman’s face until Charlie realised he had taken on the appearance of glass again. With concentration Charlie reverted back to his normal appearance. He explained that Jennie’s dad had been abusing her and that he had stopped it. It was now down to the old girl to protect her granddaughter but if every they needed his help to leave a message written on the mirror and he would come running. With that Charlie stepped back through the mirror and home.
Knowing now that he could make a difference to people’s lives he decided that he would use his abilities to protect the helpless whenever he could. The only person he couldn’t seem to protect was himself. Over the next five years he stayed locked in his room, his uncle would beat him more and more and he would do nothing about it, for some reason deep down inside every time he saw his uncle he reverted to that little boy that was first locked up in that bedroom all those years ago.
By the age of eighteen Charlie had help dozens of children to escape abusive environments and had learned to control his powers. One night just after coming back from rescuing a kidnapped child he realised his uncle had not left any food out. Going into mirror land he looked through all the mirrors in the house to see where is uncle was. Finally he located him lying still on the floor of his bathroom in front of the toilet with his trousers round his ankles. Stepping through the mirror Charlie was hit by the strong smell of human waste, upon examining his uncle he realised he must have been dead all day. By the look of it he must have had a haemorrhage while on the toilet and died soon after. Finally Charlie was free, his tormentor was dead, but also Charlie cried for the old bastard now he was really all alone in the world.
That night Charlie put together a story that he had been away at collage and returned this evening to find his dear old uncle dead and that he had called the police straight away. After the police had left with the body Charlie went into mirror land and contacted Mark, a teenager that he had saved a couple of years earlier. Together they broke into one of the collages and Mark using his skills with computers doctored their records to say that Charlie had been enrolled there for the last two years.
As he was his uncle’s only next of kin Charlie inherited the farm and the land around it. Most of which he sold of for a good profit. Now he has renovated the farmhouse he lives there quietly. His neighbours say he is gentle and kind and willing to help them out when ever asked. Once behind closed doors Charlie becomes The Mirror Man protector of the innocent and abused. His house is a refuge for lost souls.
Not long after his uncle died he found the key to his room. Stepping into mirror land he closed his eyes spun round three times and with his eyes still closed through the key away. It arced through the air and disappeared through one of the million mirrors around him, lost forever. His room is forever locked now but when he is down or needs time to think he enters it through his bathroom mirror sits on his broken old metal bed and in some small way feel safe and secure
Here's Mirrors powers:
Mirror Man can enter another dimension that he has created from all his pain of childhood. This dimension allows him to view the world through any mirror he looks through in mirror land. Stepping through one of the mirror land mirrors gives him access to room where the mirror resides in the real world. Doing this quickly while in the real world makes it look like he is teleporting.
This power also works similarly for glass, in that he can walk through one piece of glass and appear through another although he cannot stay in mirror land while passing through glass. For some reason mirror land expels him quickly, as if he is attached to the real world by a piece of elastic thus his teleportation through glass is only for short distances and line of sight only. He can only enter mirror world through mirrors. But using mirrors he can move to any place in the world given the time.
If Charlie has looked through a mirror before he can locate that mirror quickly and either exit through it or with a small mirror to look through see what is happening in front of the other mirror .
Another of Charlie’s extraordinary powers it the ability to take on the properties of the mirror. As Glass is a semi liquid in mirror form Charlie can stretch his body in all directions , and his mirror form is more resilient to damage. In addition to these powers his mirror form allows him to deflect energy attacks that he can see, reflect light, defuse light , store light and expel it as concentrated beams from his hands and probably the most unusual power is his ability to call forth his reflections from surrounding glass and mirrors to form duplicates of himself although they tend to be less powerful than Charlie.
Character 2 : Diamond Jim Brady
Jim Brady had worked for The Precious Rock Corporation, a diamond mining company, since he had left collage, he was good at his job, had reached middle management level in the company and was in charge of some moderately large over seas projects, Jim was happy.
Michael Summers was the company CEO, over the last couple of months Michael had started to pay closer attention to Jim, inviting him to parties, golf trips and the like. On one such trip Michael commented on how efficient Brady was and how well ordered his business records were, he was impressed and wanted to help Jim up the ladder. He said he had just been given the go ahead to mine for diamonds in Brazil and the preliminary reports from his advance team suggested the area they were to dig in was one of the richest deposits of diamonds found in the last 50 years. He wanted to over the project to Jim and hinted that it could mean a position on the board if all went well.
Jim’s plane touched down early the following Friday, he was in Brazil to over see the first explosions take place and was exited at the prospect. Getting to the campsite took four hard hours of driving and Jim was tired by the time he arrive. Quickly stowing his bags he headed off to the main tent to be debriefed and to read the geology reports.
The blasting was to take place the following morning and Jim decided he would take the opportunity to explore the blast site before he read the reports. Jim liked to see for himself the geology of the site before making any decisions.
After a couple of hours of inspecting the site and report reading Jim came to the conclusion that although the site did have diamond deposits it didn’t have half the amount the reports suggested, Jim started to feel something fishy was going on.
He tried for an hour to get through to Summers when he finally did and explained his findings Summers insisted he would fly out straight away to look for himself he also stated that if Jim was right heads would role.
The following morning Summers turned up at the site, Jim was so busy preparing for Summer he paid no attention to the fact that he had only spoken to his boss five hours earlier, and that he could not possibly flown from Britain to Brazil in that time.
Summers also turned up with six well-armed men, when Jim questioned their presence Summers said he had heard reports of bandits were in the area and they were there to protect the team.
Jim Then took Summers into the cave system and started to explain his findings. Summers didn’t seem to interested and turned to one of the guards and asked is the site location verified with the tablet when the guard nodded Summers turned to Jim as he did so he pulled a gun out of his pocket and pointed it at him.
“ Jim, Jim, Jim all you had to do was blow the shit out of these cave like a good little worker and you would have had everything you wanted, but no you had to do your job, they said you were too thorough but I insisted on using you. Oh well I’ll learn by my mistakes. What are we going to do with you though?”
“What the ***deleted*** is going on here why are you doing this?” asked Jim as two of the guards tied him to one of the cave supports.
“ Well you might as well know what you will be dying for. The company is part of, shall we say a club, where all the board members are interested in one thing, power, power over people, money and politics. To this ends we have been gathering information over the last 30 years concerning visits from other races. One in particular interests us.”
Turning to the six men beside him he orders them to go and round up the rest of the team and dispose of them.
Sitting down on a rock next to Jim he continues.
“Now where was I, oh yes these aliens have the technology to store large amounts of energy within crystal structures like diamonds for example, but not only energy information, data, knowledge. We’ve come into procession of a tablet dating back thousands of years it states this race of beings were in the final stages of extinction, their planet had been destroyed by a natural disaster and the few that survived landed here and hid within a two great diamonds their entire knowledge. Can you imaging the power that knowledge will bring to the person who owns it.”
“So you see my friend you die today knowing that you’re live was given to advance the human race of cause with me in charge.”
Suddenly gunshots were heard outside and one of the guards came in to report all the team had been disposed of.
“ Now Jim be a good little boy and keep quiet, I’m fond of you and I want you to experience the glory of the dawn of a new age before you die.”
With that they all went out side.
“Are the explosives in place” Summers asked, yes was the reply.
“Very well proceed”
With that a huge explosion rocked the ground. As the dust setting Summers and his men, with Jim in tow re-entered the cave. Where they had been standing moments earlier was an entrance into a cavern, but unlike anything Jim had ever seen. The structure was totally of diamond but the weirdest thing of all was that it seemed to be man made. Crystal steps led up to an alter on hovering above this were two of the largest diamonds Jim had ever seen held in mid air by a brilliant light. One was shining brightly the other was dark and lifeless.
“Damn it!” shouted Summers as he inspected the crystals. “You fool your explosion destroyed one of them” with that he shot dead the man how had been in charge of demolitions. Walking back to the alter he lifted the still active crystal and stored it in a box which was then carried out to a waiting helicopter.
“ Well Jim this is good bye. I’m sorry we have to part like this but my destiny awaits”
With that one of the guards forces Jim over to the alter and ties him to it, placing an explosive charge next to him, setting it for a ten minute count down before leaving.
After everyone had gone and the sound of the helicopter had gone Jim tried desperately to get free all the time the counter was going down. Soon there was only one-minute left, 50 second, 25 seconds. In those final seconds Jim cursed Summers and all those on the board, as the words left his mouth the counter reached zero and there was a brilliant white light…..
Quiet, as quiet as the grave thought Jim, this must be heaven. Then a voice spoke in his mind.
“You are the human called Jim Brady, we are the guardians.”
“Where am I? “
“You are dying as are we. We saw what happened but the first explosion trapped us and we could not intervene. With the second explosion we were able to come to your aid, we are sorry we could not save your body it was too badly damaged. Using the last of our energy we have manipulated the second crystal into a vessel that will take your essence and act as a new body for you. All we ask for in return for this second chance is that you retrieve the crystal of knowledge from this evil human called Michael Summers and stop him from using it to control your world.”
“ I will try but how if this crystal he has is so powerful can I do this.”
“ What he doesn’t understand is that to be able to fully unlock the knowledge he needed both crystals, the knowledge in one unlocked the knowledge in the other. He will only be able to glean surface information; this is still dangerous in the wrong hands and could be still devastating to your planet. Eventually he will break the last codes but this could take years even hundreds of years.”
“Then he could be dead before he does this”
“ No he will live you see the first code unlocks the knowledge of extended life, we created it so we would have time to study….. This will be his first power…..We are fading please … don’t let him win……”
With that there was silence. Jim made his way out of the cave and determined that the guardians could finally rest he set charges in the mouth of the cave and brought down the mountainside to seal it forever.
Months later a new hero stalked the streets. He has been seen many times destroying the property of The Precious Rock Corporation, many of its board members have been reported asking the police for protection because they have been visited by this being looking for Michael Summers, who had disappeared on a site visit to Brazil. Within days of going to the police all died of either natural causes or accidents.
Jim Brady now uses his new found powers to hunt Summers, remembering the promise he made in that cave to do anything and everything within his power to stop this made man from achieving his goal of world domination.
Here's diamond's Powers:
Jim is able to control the diamond structure of his new body allowing him to make the edges of his crystal hands and the diamond contours of his body razor sharp. He no longer needs to eat, or breath, does not get tired and does not age . The crystal structure also has the ability to repair itself when damaged. Because diamonds reflect light his eyes have been designed to store minute amounts of light within their structure allowing Jim to use this light source to see in the dark .
Finally his body has the ability to shoot out shards of crystals, either blunt or sharp depending on the damage he wishes to cause this power does have a limitation as he is in essence shooting out parts of his crystal structure he can only do this eight times a day before he has to wait for his body to regenerate more crystals.
LION HEART HISTORY
When Colin was five his mother died from cancer and Colin was sent to live with his father, Jonathan, in Kenya. His father and mother had divorced just after he was born.
Colin's father was a vet and warden for one of the big game reserves that specialised in the breeding of lions. Colin's life was idyllic; his father’s servant and friend Matthew Ombodoo managed his education as the compound was miles from the nearest school.
The two men and a young Colin spent many weeks away from the compound living off the land and learning about the habits of the wild lions, tracking and tagging them with specially adapted bow and arrows, a weapon that Colin over the years became expert with.
While on one of these trips Colin's father got a report that one of the lions in the area had turned man-eater and killed two local village children. The three decided that they should help track down this predator before the locals shot every lion in the district. They picked up the killer's trail on the fourth day and by evening had located its den, though upon inspection they found the lion had not yet returned. Matthew and Jonathan assessed the situation and felt it would be best to set up watch down wind of the den and wait for the lions return.
Unbeknownst to any of them the lion had been tracking them since early that morning and it wasn’t alone, it’s mate was with him. In the early hours the two huge cats attacked. First they went for the smallest of the three as they instinctively saw it as the weakest of the group. Attacking with speed and ferocity Colin was quickly brought down and badly mauled.
The two men seeing what was unfolding before their eyes rushed from their hiding places and let loss two arrows that felled the great beast standing over the boy. The second lion changed direction in mid stride and was on Jonathan before Matthew could reload. Colin, in great pain and on the verge of passing out from loss of blood saw the lion go for his father's throat. Anger welled up inside the thirteen year old, first he had lost his mother and now he had to watch his father die. Collecting all the strength he had left to him he stood and raised his bow but in its place was a burning flame white energy bow, working on pure instinct he pulled back his hand and a flaming arrow also appeared, releasing it, the fury shaft pierced the lions throat and lifted it into the air when it hit the ground again it was a blackened smoking corpse, then everything went black.
Jonathan amazed and scared at what had just happened ran to the prone body of his son, Matthew not far behind him. Quickly taking his son's pulse he knew he would be dead before they reached any type of medical facility. Seeing the loss in his friends eye Matthew took him to one side and explained that he could help his son, there were ways that his grandfather had taught him that could bring a person back from the edge, old ways, dangerous ways. In his grieve, and to save his son Jonathan agreed to give it a try. Kneeling once again over the boy Matthew started chanting; at first nothing happened then a blue haze appeared across the clearing it materialized into the ghostly form of a lion it slowly walked over to the young boy and sniffs. It lifted its head to look directly at Matthew blinked twice and slowly melted back into smoke. This smoke then started to swirl round Collins body before disappearing into the boys open wounds. Many minutes passed until before their astonished eyes Colin’s wounds started to heal. Slowly the boys breathing became more regular and he opened his eyes. Overjoyed that his son was alive he thanked Matthew from the bottom of his heart. They called the compound and six hours later Colin was safely in his bed asleep.
When he was strong enough the three of them started to take trips into the bush again but this time it was not to track lions, now they went to test this strange power Colin had developed. Years earlier Jonathan had read a medical article about the growing number of mutants appearing in the world and that one thing they all seemed to have in common was that their powers manifested themselves at puberty and usually under great stress. Jonathan surmised that Colin was one such mutant.
Over the next couple of years Colin experimented with his powers and became, what his dad believed was the greatest archer in the world. Something else happened to Colin in this period, once while out camping with his father and Matthew, Colin took ill and that night his body metamorphed into a humanoid lion. Matthew concluded this was due to the lion heart ghost he had summoned to heal Colin leaving a part of its life force within the boy’s spirit. This was a good omen Matthew said, the lion heart was looking over his son protecting him for he had been chosen for a great destiny. His new appearance, which he could change into at will, gave him added abilities to enhance his mutant ones, he developed claws on the end of his fingers capable of tear through steel. His natural athletic ability improved as well he was able to jump long distances and his sense of smell increased, he was able to see in the dark and heal rapidly but the weirdest thing of all was his ability to read the minds of the lions around him.
Fearing that soon the suppositious locals would shun his son he was sent back to the States to live with an old friend of his, Matthew Saunders, who ran a private school in New York
Now at the age of 32 Colin is the head of a thriving detective agency Cat’s-eyes. They help track down criminals and protect the local population from protection racketeers. In reality Cat’s-eyes has a staff of one all business is conducted from Colin’s house at the edge of the city. All jobs are resolved over the Internet or by phone, nobody has ever met or seen Colin all his clients know is that he has a superhero working for him called Lion Heart a Lion skinned human with a flaming bow.

I like the Mirror character the best, it’s a neat concept. Out of all three characters he would probably be the most expensive.
As for powers I would suggest the following;
Dimensional Shifting (Limitation: only through mirrors)
Spatial Warping (Limitation: only through mirrors)
Light Manipulation
ESP (Limitation: only through mirrors)
Force Field or Body Armor
Maybe a few advantages like Support Personnel ( his hacker friend)
Contacts to represent the many people he has saved
Secret Hideout for his bedroom

Diamond
Ranged Power Attack: projectile Attack (limitations: Uses Life Force, and Super Heroic Form)
Body Armor
Infrared Vision
Light Manipulation
Flash Attack
Natural Weaponry
Regeneration
All Powers would have the limitation of Super Heroic Form excepted regeneration
I’d suggest the Enemy and Devotion disadvantage to represent his burden of stopping the company from attaining world domination.

Lion Heart
Probably the least expensive of the lot.
Range weapon skill at a high level with a specialization and maybe Trademark specialization in Bow.
Natural weaponry
Fast Reaction
High Reflex and Physique Attribute
Speak With animals
Regeneration or Accelerated healing
Combat Sense
Extra Body Points
Maybe some Super Senses
Most of the power would have the disadvantage of Super Heroic Form.

You should write these up J.T., I would really be interested in seeing how you interpret them on paper.
I'll definitely do my best over the next week or so as I have some time off and taking the family on holiday so should have some time while on the beach to jot something down.
Thanks for all the suggestions

Here's a few more characters:
Character 4 : Rescue
HISTORY
John Brooks was always different; from an early age things seemed to go missing around him or when down in one place would appear few minutes later.
Unbeknownst to his parents John was born a mutant it was later thought this was due to his mother’s job as a specialist in radiology, that in the first few months of pregnancy John had be exposed to high levels of X-rays that triggered his mutant gene before birth. John was raised in a loving environment, his parents taught him good values and morals that would be the backbone to his believes in later live.
It was around his tenth birthday that his parents noticed his powers for the first time and put two and two together. They were in the garden one sunny afternoon when they heard John shouting for their pet cat to come down from a tree at the bottom of the garden, John’s father went to see if he could help only to watch in amazement as John pointed his finger at the cat and, pop it disappeared only to reappear in John’s hands seconds later. John was quickly ushered into the house where his mum gave him a check up. After a long talk and the realisation that John was a mutant his parents persuaded him not to use his powers in front of anyone except them, but they felt that as this power was part of their son he should learn to use it so while at home, with just the three of them about he was allowed to practice.
In School john excelled in the sciences and upon leaving he went to Cambridge to study medicine. Leaving after seven years with is doctorate and masters in biology and chemistry.
He worked for five years in a hospital near his parents but became frustrated with the bureaucracy of the profession, it was at this time he was approached by Mr. Whyte, the head of a new government department dealing with the problem of terrorists, both normal and super powered. He had been told that John was an excellent doctor and that there was a place in the department for him as the head of a medical back up team, their job would be to go in after a raid and stabilize any wounded team members or civilians. John saw this as a great opportunity to help people on the front line rather than patching up the drunks and wackos in A&E and accepted the offer.
Life was thrilling for John after that, he travelled the world with his team and became friends with some of the toughest super powered people in the department. All this time though he kept his own power secret, who would want to know about his weak little power to move objects when the supers in the team could rip steel apart with their bare hands.
Everything changed one particular rescue mission; a group of terrorists had captured the British embassy in a little South American country and were threatening to kill the hostages unless their leader was released from prison (he had been captured months earlier in a bomb attack in a shopping centre). The four man rescue team went in but were unprepared for the fact that the terrorists had hired themselves some super powered mercenaries and with in minutes one was injured, one dead and the other two were pined down. Viewing the carnage on the remote cameras all John could think about was his friends and the hostages, grabbing his medical equipment he ran into the building. Once inside he located the team and attempted to reach them. As he ran across a room to get to them one of the terrorists opened up with a machine gun, at first everyone there thought he had been hit but something unbelievable happened, as the bullets got within an inch of John they winked out of sight, seconds later the man who had shot at him screamed and fell to the ground with six bullets in his chest.
Having no time to think about what had just happened John reached his friends. Assessing the situation he knew the only way his injured teammate would survive was an immediate evac, but being under heavy fire this seemed impossible. John took a few deep breaths to calm himself knowing exactly what he had to do, radioing the medical team outside he ordered them to clear an area to the north of the building in view of the window he was looking out of. That he had one serious case with multiple laser wounds and to be ready to receive him. With that he pointed his finger at his patient and, pop he vanished seconds later he got an astonished call from his medical team that “The patient has appeared and is stable.” Smiling he turned to the others and said it was time to go and with that popped each of them in turn to safety, lastly he bent and closed the eyes of his dead team mate feeling angry that he hadn’t been fast enough to save him, he pointed his finger and sent him home. Now on his own he realised that the hostages were still in the building so he went to find them, what actually happened in the following half an hour no one knows except John but when the shooting and shouting was over and the backup team stormed the building John was sitting on the stairs in the hall with the hostages by his side and dead gun men and unconscious super villains all around.
After John’s debriefing he was confessed to being a mutant and the department sent him to be tested to see what the limits to his powers were. They learned that John was a teleporter but not like any they had seen before, he was unable to teleport himself but could use his power on others as long as they were in line of site. He was able to teleport items out of peoples hands (like guns) and teleport his target very fast on the same spot thereby disorientating them and if done long enough led to unconsciousness.
If this wasn’t enough the most amazing side effect of his power his ability to surround himself with energy field that teleported way anything that touched it. Thus someone hitting him would disappear to reappear somewhere else, but the most disturbing use of this power was that he could teleport a missile attack back onto his attacker (this seems to happen automatically) as in the incident with the gunman at the embassy.
Testing also showed that this power had its limitations and sometimes damage got through, thus it was decided to provide John with lightweight body armour. This allowed him to see in the dark and have its own air supply in case of gas attacks, the suit also had jets in the boots to give him the ability to leap great distances, as his powers didn’t work on himself it was felt he would need some means of getting in and out of the fire zone quickly.
A year of intensive training later the Anti-terrorist squad got its doctor back but this time he went in with them on missions, knowing that wasted time was wasted lives. The department heads wanted to call him Transporter but his team felt he deserved something more fitting to what he had done and it wasn’t long before his code name was changed to RESCUE.
As RESCUE John also helps out local authorities with accidents and has also been lent to other superhero teams that may need medical backup for dangerous adventures. In his spare time John works for a charity hospital, which he part owns and runs with his mother and her colleagues.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
John is 5’11” and of athletic build. His hair brown and cut short and his skin is tanned, the one thing that everyone remembers about him when asked is his piercing grey green eyes that seem to look right into your soul, but which also reflects the compassion in his heart.
PERSONALITY
John has a caring manner and a comforting word for everyone he treats. He has seen and been touched by violence in his life and knows that to stop this force sometimes needs to be used. It is not in Johns nature to go out of his way to hurt someone but he believes a terrorist makes his chose in live by picking up a gun or setting off a bomb and if they are hurt as a result of their actions then be it on their own heads.
As Rescue John will assess the situation before him deal with the wounded and let the rest of the team do the dirty work relying on his energy field to remove any possible threat from his immediate area.

HISTORY:
William Barnet was a world renown forensic scientist who had cracked dozens of cases for the police in his career. It was then no surprise when his services were called upon to collect evidence against a leading figure in the underworld in a multiple murder investigation.
One evening William found what he needed to crack the case while examining one of the bodies, all he needed to do was extract the DNA from the body and match it to that for the suspect. While the sample was being processed William went up stairs to report his findings and to let the detective in charge know that he was close to getting the evidence they needed.
Unbeknownst to William the detective’s partner was on the pay roll of the suspect and in no time at all there were thugs on the way to ransack the morgue and destroy the evidence. While this was all happening William grabbed a sandwich and coffee from the canteen and headed back down to the morgue.
The extraction process was well underway and William was half way through his second sandwich when four men burst into his lab. Moving quickly they grabbed William and tied him up. Then started to search for the evidence. After ten minutes with no luck, and getting more and more edgy because they were in the basement of a police station they decided the quickest way to find it would be to torture William.
They carried the struggling scientist over to the dissection table and started to remove his fingers. By the third finger William was directing them to what they had come for. It was then the bent cop came in to see what was taking so long and was horrified that they hadn’t blind folded William and that a terrified William had just seen his face. There was no time for niceties the cop grabbed one of the scalpels and plunged it into William’s chest puncturing his heart. With the dead body the thugs opened the embalming tank and dumped the body in to it closing the lid behind them and made good their escape.
Hours later the detective in charge of the murder case came down to get the DNA results only to find the morgue ransacked and William’s dead body floating in embalming fluid.
William’s body was removed to another morgue for autopsy and the scalpel bagged as evidence.
In the early hours of the following morning the police were called to the morgue
Someone had taken William Barnet’s body all that was left at the scene was a pair of wet bear foot prints on the tiled floor.
A week after William’s disappearance someone broke into the evidence locker at the station and stole the scalpel that had been used to kill William. The police put it down to some very sick murder souvenir hunter and closed the file.
Over the next few months four bodies turned up all with the same M.O. All the bodies had been subjected to server decay all had died in agony and all had the look of terror on their faces. Then a cop turned up dead in exactly the same fashion but with this was a file containing all of the cops dirty dealings his connection with an underworld big name and a description of his part in the killing of William Barnet and links to the four previous bodies and that crime.
William Barnet Didn’t die that night somehow the embalming fluid fused with his DNA and reanimated him. After his death he left the morgue under his own steam after coming round. He broke into the police station and stole his scalpel as he sensed a connection to it. Then set about collecting evidence to link all the people involved in his death together. He then went hunting with the soul intention of reeking terrible revenge on his murderers.
Now he has fulfilled his mission he prowls the streets helping those in need and righting terrible wrongs against the innocent.
POWERS:
The embalming fluid fused with William’s DNA somehow reanimating his dead body and granting him certain abilities. Just by touching something or someone he can make them/ it decay and turn to dust, he can also reverse this process. He can also regenerate wounds inflicted on him and is immune to aging, disease, exhaustion, starvation and suffocation. The fluid has also made him tougher and faster than a normal human.
He also has a connection to the scalpel used to kill him not only can it cut but each time he uses it on a living thing he can drains life essence from its victim through the blade.
COSTUME:
As the undertaker William wears a Victorian undertakers outfit complete with black long coat, black trousers, black waist coat and white shirt. The costume is topped off with a black tall had with black ribbon rapped round it with the ends flowing down the back. Character 7: Wolf's Bane
HISTORY: Maximus Bremark was a werewolf hunter, like his father before him and his father before him. Maximus could track his linage for ten unbroken generations. His tools of the trade were a mystical set of armour, and a glowing eldritch sword and shield. Maximus was a proud man and followed the traditions of his family with great honour.
Hunting werewolves was a passion and a calling. But lately he had noticed his enemies were getting bolder grouping together, many times in the last few months he had nearly been trapped and killed. This turn of events worried Maximus, his family, Helaina his wife, and Kulic his young son he knew were safe. He made sure that he stayed away from them so there would be no connection that the enemy could exploit, but still he had started to worry more and more about their safety.
After one really bad hunting trip Maximus decided that he was getting too old and careless and that if he were to die now who would teach his son the skills he would need to carry on the good fight.
To this end, in the middle of the night Maximus crept into their house, waking his wife he instructed her to get the boy ready to travel they were going to leave the area, leave the country and head for America were they could be a proper family without all the danger that went with his life.
Maximus had great abilities but he was careless that night and it wasn’t long before the enemy was snapping at his heels. For four days he managed to keep one step ahead of them. Eventually though the inevitable happened, as Maximus was ushering his family onto a plane they attacked. Maximus fought bravely but he couldn’t be in two places at once and it wasn’t long before they dragged his wife screaming from his arms. Knowing her husband could not safe them all her last desperate cries were for their son. Save him Maximus save our boy, was the last words he was ever to hear his wife speak.
Knowing there was no help for his wife now he grabbed the terrified boy and fled into the darkness. Five weeks later a middle aged widower and his young son bought a small house in a small town in a very quiet part of America. His name was Max Bremer and it wasn’t long before he opened up a bookshop.
For many years the Bremer’s lived a happy quiet life, rumour had it that Mr Bremer was once a world class fencing instructor before his wife’s death and it was a common site for father and son to be seen practicing on their front lawn in the summer evenings.
By the time the Robert Bremer was 18 he had grown into a tall athletic young man following his father in looks and personality, although there was gentleness in him that the locals thought must have been inherited from his mother.
Peace ended when Robert’s father came home early from the shop, he looked terrible and was bleeding from many wounds. Max refused to tell his son what was wrong but to pack they had been found and they had to run.
Over the next few weeks they moved from motel to motel not staying long always paying in cash. It was while they travelled that Max told Robert about their true identity His family history and his mother’s death. Kulic argued with his father that they should stand and fight that they should avenge his mother’s death but Maximus would have none of it, he would keep his promise to his wife and keep his son safe.
Soon time ran out for them and they were left with nowhere to run, the last battle of Maximus Bremark, Werewolf hunter and father took place at an old disused rail yard. Dressed again in the black armour and carrying the eldritch sword of his ancestors he fought a great fight giving no quarter and expecting non. All the time protecting his son with sword shield and his own body when need arose it was too little too late as he lay dying in his son’s arms with five werewolves circling their prey he asked his son for forgiveness for not saving him. Kulic covered with his father’s blood laid the dying man gently on the ground and slowly picking up his father’s sword turned to face the enemy with hatred and vengeance in his heart. To this day Kulic is still shocked at what happened to him that night, as he turned, sword in hand ready to die next to his father a warm glow spread over his body raising the sward as the first enemy attacked he noticed his hand was covered in metal and the sword a blue nimbus of eldritch energy as the heat inside him built more armour appeared on his body until he was encased in a shell of black glossy metal. The heat kept on building until it consumed him he fed it with all his anger and hatred and charged his would be killers.
With his last strength Maximus watched as his son took down five werewolves he was a demon a killer an avenging angel his father loved him and hated having to pass to him the burden of responsibility that he had so long run away from. He was also very proud of what his son had become and based over into the after live knowing there was a new angel of death walking the earth from that night on and wow betide the evil that crossed his path.
As the heat in Kulic died he looked round to see five dead men on the ground at his feet and his armour and sword gone though the battle had left its mark on him, having looked evil in the eye that night his hair had for ever gone white.
Kulic went to his father then and carried him gently away from the battlefield to a small wooded area where he laid him to rest in an unmarked grave so that the enemy could never again hurt him. Standing there by the grave of his father Kulic vowed to carry on the fight, to protect the innocent and destroy evil in what ever form it took.
Months later Kulic crept back into their old house and took a few personal things that belonged to his father, his mother’s wedding ring and an old wooden box containing eight large gem stones, a diary and a note which read
“ Dear son if you are reading this then something has happened to me take these gems and sell them use the money to start a new live, look after your mother’s ring it is all we have of her and read the diary it contains all you need to know of the family and the power of the mystical armour that was his by blood. God bless and protect you son for I could not. Your ever loving father.”
2003 ten years have gone by since Kulic lost his father he owns his own bookshop in freedom city dealing with the occult and legends and he is doing well. He has come to terms with his loss though some nights he is awaken by bad dreams. He know to that his father would be proud of him also as he uses his powers to help others, the city around him are full of extraordinary people with extraordinary abilities and every now and then he fights along side them his sword glowing and his eyes blazing with eldritch fire, righting the wrongs of others and destroying evil.
When his is in one of his darker modes he will go away for weeks at a time returning to his normal live when he’s had time to exercise his demons, on these trips he lets his anger and hatred rule his thoughts and at times like this every werewolf he finds becomes his prey.
General Note : the armour’s appearance has changed over the centuries to best fit in with the world around it and how the wearer see it. Being surrounded by modern day superheroes the armour has taken on a slightly hi-tech look. Kneel length boots, body hugging body plates and a trench coat over the top. The helmet has been replaced by rap round shades and Kulic wears his hair long.

Character 8: Lemon Juice
History.
Lemon Juice, real name Tara Collins, ran away from home when she was 13 to escape a prostitute druggy mother and a gambling drunken father. She has spent the last three years living on the streets of London and has become sinical and defensive.
When Juice, as her street friend call her, was 14 her powers developed, a gang of pimps were trying to round up the street kids both boys and girls to go on the game. Some of the kids Juice ran with had been approached some joined out of fear while others were beaten to make an example of.
Juice had refused and was in the process of getting a sound thrashing when her attacker started screaming and clutching his hand which from the look of it had been badly burned. He cried out to his friends that she had burned him somehow and to beat her to death. As they raised their bats she flung her hands out to protect herself and a couple for amazing things happened all at once. One of the attackers dropped to the floor scratching at his eyes, another stood stock still before falling over backwards and all the weapons they had been holding were now lying on the pavement smoldering and melting into slime.
Getting to her feet as quickly as possible she started to run out of the alley only to find that instead of running she was somehow skating across the ground at a good rate of notes.
That evening hidden away in the sew tunnels she calls home Juice thought back over what had happened, scared but exited she lifted her hand and pointed it at the wall, before her eyes a thin mist sprayed out of her fingers and as it settled on the wall started to dissolve the brick.
Thinking this could be useful keeping herself and her street friends safe she spent the next few months experimenting with her new found powers. One thin she noticed early on was that when ever she used her powers there was a faint smell of lemons afterwards.
Lemon Juice has been fighting the street gangs now for nearly a year always to protect her home area and friends. The gangs have become weary of trespassing on her patch and avoid it whenever possible.
As Juice started to get a rep. For protecting street people many have congregated in and around the sewers just off 22nd and Greely. They have developed quite a hidden community where they help each other find food and shelter. Juice has become their unofficial leader but she always passes on the important decisions to the older people she’s just happy to be able to protect the one family she has ever had from harm.
In resent months Juice has helped out The Next-Gen on a number of street level missions and Duncan Summers has offered her a place at the academy which she has turned down because it would mean leaving the streets. Summers understands her commitment to her friends and the two have come to an agreement to help each other out when it is needed.
Powers.
Lemon Juices powers derive from the ability to excrete chemicals from her body that have a number of effect when it makes contact with the air.
From her hands she can produce a very corrosive chemical that can burn through nearly any material (disintegration). She can spray from her fingers a less powerful chemical that can blind her target (dazzle). She can surround herself with a field of floating mist which burns anyone that gets too close to her (energy field). She has the ability to force out large amounts of a chemical from her body over a large area hiding her from view (obscure). One of the chemicals she can produce has the effect to paralysis her target (paralysis) and lastly she has the ability to produce a film of very slippery chemicals in an area around her that people cannot stand on (slick) and this also gives her the ability to slide along the floor to get away from people (slide).
Character 9: Dragon Fire
Arthur Doyle III was born the son of Lord Arthur Doyle and being the son of an aristocrat was exposed to the privileges that came with it. Like not seeing his parents for months at a time having a secession of nannies when his was younger and then boarding school (which he loathed) when he was old enough. Arthur’s only light in the dullness of the privileged set was holidays with his grandfather.
Duke Romsley was (Arthur’s grandfather) was an enigma to his family and looked down upon by his peers. He spent many years abroad doing humanitarian work for many charities not just being a figurehead but living with the people he helped, working with them and suffering with them. So early on in his life Arthur gravitated to this outspoken old gentleman. It was therefore Romsley that taught Arthur to let his mind be free that he didn’t have to follow the rest of the sheep but to be what he wanted to be. His grandfather also told him stories of his ancestors especially the one about St. George and the dragon. Many a night they would look over old family books tracing their lineage back to St. George and Arthur would spend many an evening curled up on his grandfather’s lap falling asleep to the heroic tails of the knight that killed the dragon.
Not long after reaching 13 the dreams started always the same, always viewed as a third party to the scenes unfolding before him. In his dreams St. George tracks the dragon to it’s lair where drawing his sword he enters the cave… the dream always ended at this point in a sheet of flame and a loud blood curdling bestial cry.
Arthur told his grandfather about his dreams with a slight grin his grandfather said it must be the spirit of old sir George come to make sure his descendents follow his chivalrous and noble foot steps.
The next summer the old man started to teach Arthur in the ways of the old knights, to be honourable, honest and loyal. He taught him horse riding and sword fighting (for an old man he was still quite agile).
As the years passed Arthur went from Eton to the army (something the family expected of him) there he became a leader of men and soon reached the rank of commander. His men respected him and would follow him everywhere. While away on manoeuvres he got a message that his parents had been killed in a plane crash coming back from one of their many skiing holidays. Never having had much to do with them he didn’t really mourn their passing but as the dutiful son took a leave of absence to attend the funeral.
Now as the heir to the Doyle fortune he became Lord Doyle. Things then started to change pressures of trying to stay in the army and running the family estate quickly got to him and something had to give. He resigned his commission and went home to run the estate full time (this was not an easy decision to make but what swung it was the fact that his grandfather was getting old and he wanted desperately to spend the last few years of the old man’s life with him).
Now a Lord Arthur was expected to take up his father’s seat in the House of Lords. He hated it being surrounded by petty spiteful individuals all out for their own ends. All through this time two things were constant, two things kept him grounded his grandfather (who said that only from the inside could he make a difference) and his dreams. So with these two constants he stayed in the House of Lords doing his best to make changes for the people of Britain.
The following year strange things started to happen around Westminster. It started with the odd break in to people’s chambers then complaints to security that people felt they were being watched and stalked. Security was tightened but things still happened. Until the murders started. The first was a cleaner found in the basement stores what was not published in the news papers was the fact that the body had been ripped to shreds and partially eaten. By the third murder there was uproar in the house especially as the last victim had been one of their own, A Lord.
Arthur, wanting to protect himself and his fellow peers got permission to carry a gun with him while at parliament. About a week after the third killing Arthur was going over some papers in his chambers when he heard a scuffle take place out in the corridor taking up his gun he quietly exited his chambers and entered the corridor. What confronted him was a ghastly site. Near the ends of the corridor lit by moon light streaming through the stain glass windows Arthur witnessed a hulking great man bent over the twitching body of one of his fellow lords. Pointing his gun he ordered the man to move away from the body at the same time he pressed one of the many emergency buttons to call security.
Looking up at Arthur the brut mad a guttural sound and sprang at him. Within seconds the monster was on him ripping and slashing in a frenzy. If it hadn’t been for Arthur’s training he would have gone down instantly although in the process of dodging he lost hold of his gun. Managing to get some distance between him and his attacker Arthur reached for the only weapon available to him one of the many broad swords hanging on the walls of the corridor. The battle that followed was as quick as it was bloody the monster driven purely by hunger and blood lust ran straight at Arthur who at the very last second side stepped and as the creature turned to attack again Arthur plunged the sword into the monsters chest up to the hilt. This close the creature Arthur was able to look directly into its face. The face of his attacker was scaly and reminded him of a lizard.
Staggering back the creature made a desperate attempt to remove the blade from his body but in the process made the wound bleed more dropping to it’s knees it fell forward and lay still. Staring at the body not quite knowing what he had just looked upon the creature started to shimmer and shrink slowly changing back into human form before Arthur’s eyes. There laying on the floor before him was the naked body of Lord Ashley-Smyth. Just then the guards arrived. Many hours of questioning later Arthur was released CC TV footage from the corridor cameras backed up Arthur’s story that he was defending himself from a crazed attacker (although it was too dark in the corridor for the cameras to make out more than the outlines of the figures fighting).
Later after the police raided Smyth’s run down stately home they discovered a strange alter and body parts scattered around the house.
That night Arthur had his dream again but this time it was different, this time he was St. George and he was viewing the dream from a first person perspective…….
St. George/Arthur dismounts from his horse and readies himself to do battle with the dragon in its lair. Entering the cave St. George/Arthur confronts the beast. Their eyes meet across the cavern and Arthur is startled to see the same blood lust in the creature’s eyes was he did in the corridor earlier that night.
St. George/Arthur takes a step towards the beast as if he is meeting an old friend
“Molywr my brother how has it come to this when did you become tainted and betray your brood. You were one of the brightest of us the leader we would have followed you to the ends of time but you killed them all., your brothers and sisters, why.”
“Dragon Fire Look at you still the dreamer the noble creature. You were our conscience loved by all and I hate you for that. Why did I do what I did. I got a better offer I was shown the way but most of all I did it because I could.”
With that St.George/Arthur/ Dragon Fire charges but instead of raising the sword he throws it away. In mid leap Arthur feels his body morph change, grow bigger by the time he hits his target he has changed into a creature like the one before him but where as the monster he attacks is midnight blue in colour Arthur is radiant gold.
The battle is furious, no quarter is given or taken. It is a battle between two titans creatures of muscle, teeth, fangs and majesty. In the end one figure is seen staggering out of the cave dressed in battered armour with a broken sword St. George drags behind him the head of the dragon that had murdered so many people……..
The next morning Arthur spoke of everything that happened that night to his grandfather. Romsley told him to calm down the dream was just that a dream brought on by what he had gone through earlier in the evening.
“ Although” said the old man as he left the breakfast room “St. George could be telling you that your path will lead you to greater things to be a man of the people a protector but then again it was only a dream.”
Arthur felt it was more than that, he knew what he had witnessed in that corridor and needed to find out more. Now Arthur spends his day time in the house of Lords trying to make Britain a better place for its people and at night he hunts the unknown looking for something he can’t remember someone no not someone a number of people a family lost a wrong to right. Arthur is St. George on a mission to protect his family, his land and maybe on the way kill a few dragons that have last the path to nobility
Character 10: fairytale
History:
Charlie loved dark placed, he loved the mystery of them and felt safe in them. As soon as Charlie was old enough to walk his parents would find him asleep under the bed or in the wardrobe. It was weird but they learned to accept it. They even accepted his imaginary friends. They thought this was a bit strange too, where as other children’s imaginary friends would be large bunny rabbits or talking cows Charlie’s were the bogeyman and the monsters in the wardrobe and under the bed. Many a night his parents would listen at his door while he had conversations with his friends.
By the time Charlie was six he had been taken to a dozen doctors and child psychologists by his parents. All reported he was a healthy normal little boy with a vivid imagination even when Charlie tried to tell him his friends were real.
See the thing nobody could grasp was the Charlie was telling the true. His friends were real. He first meet the monster under the bed (Belard) when he was two and his rattle had fallen down the side of his bed. Charlie went looking for it and came face to face with the bed monster. To say they were both startled was an understatement but unlike other children Charlie didn’t run off crying, he blinked, rubbed his eyes and held out his hand, introducing himself as Charlie Baxter aged two and a bit. This show of politeness impressed the monster and they sat for hours until the sun came up talking.
Over the years the bed monster introduced Charlie to the other monsters and demons of fair tales. All were impressed with the little boy and all became his friends and loved him deeply.
As he grew up Charlie went on many adventures at night with his friends to strange lands to solve strange riddles and to meet new friends.
When Charlie went to school his friends went with him,( one thing you need to know about fair tale monsters they are invisible and intangible in daylight). When Charlie was picked on for being weird his friends would protect him. Like the time he was thumped by the playground bully. That night the monsters held a council of war and drew straws to see who would punish the way word child. In the early hours of the following morning the bogeyman (Rahman) crept into the child’s bedroom woke him up and scared him half to death. It was many years before that child slept on his own without the light on.
So all in all life was good for Charlie until, at the age of twelve he went missing on the way to school. Passing through the park he was attacked by a group of renegade creatures, the friends that were with him tried their best to protect him but they were heavily out numbered the wardrobe monster (swingshut) got badly wounded in the scuffle and the rest had to retreat to protect themselves and their fallen comrade.
Charlie’s parents were beside themselves when it was learned that he didn’t reach school. The police set up road blocks and most of the town came out to search for the boy to no avail.
Meanwhile the fairy king was given an ultimatum by his half brother, Makunt the evil prince, that he and the rest of the fairy court, including the monsters (who he believed should be his followers and do evil deeds) were to bow down to him as their leader and in exchange he would keep the boy alive. They had twenty four hours to give their answer.
Everybody in the fairy court set out to find Charlie while the king called Charlie’s friends to him. He indicated to them that as children his brother had a secret place in the dead woods that he went to when he wanted to torture the woodland animals. He believed that would be where Charlie was being kept. The king charged them with rescuing Charlie and if in the process something should happen to his brother then so be it.
Charlie meanwhile was magically bound to the stump of a tree in the middle of the evil prince’s hideaway. Although the prince had not harmed him at this stage Charlie had to watch as he siphoned of the life force from other children he had captured to enhance his powers.
Using all their wiles and knowing that if they failed their friend would die, the courageous band of monsters and demons snuck passed the guards and entered the hideaway. They managed to make it all the way into the prince’s throne room and the bogeyman even managed to use his mystical strength to break the bounds holding Charlie but as soon as the spell was broken the alarms sounded and the guards and the prince arrived to surround them.
The battle that followed was nothing less than whole sale slaughter on both sides. Many of the monsters were injured or killed but they gave as good as they got and refused to give in because of the love of a little boy. As the battle raged the Belard strode across the battle field intent on reaching Charlie to protect him. As he got near he saw the prince rise up and fire a magic bolt at the small child with all his strength the monster launched himself into the path of the fiery missile and was struck dead. Gathering up the body and the young child the few remaining monsters managed to battle their way to the main gates. Once outside the Swingshut was able to use his powers of teleport to get the ragged band to safety.
Appearing back in the kings chambers they laid the still body of the bed monster on the kings bed. With great sorrow in their hearts the small band of friends filed passed to give their last respects to their fallen comrade.
Last to say his goodbyes was Charlie, weeping for his friend it took both the both Rahman and Swingshut to get him to let go of his friend’s body. Seeing how much this human child loved this creature the king approached Charlie. He told the child that there was a way to keep Belard alive, as the monster had taken the child to his heart the child could do the same literally but there were consequences to this action consequences a child of twelve could not be expected to understand.
Charlie refused to be put off if there was a way to save his friend then he would do it. Thus preparations were made and that night the king preformed the spell of spirit binding, and ancient and powerful spell that binds one spirit to another making them something new something that had parts of both of them in it.
Weeks later Charlie walked into a police station telling them that he had escaped his kidnapper and was safe and well. It was soon apparent to his parents that this experience had changed Charlie. He seemed a lot more focused and grown up, he studied hard at school but didn’t socialize with his class mates and he took to taking long walks in the woods most nights. Still many nights his parents listened at his door to hear him talk to his imaginary friends but now there was something less child like in the conversations many dealing with battles and magic and all said as if they had been experienced first hand.
Charlie is now eighteen and off to college in Freedom City he is still a loner but his parents hope getting away from the town and memories of what happened will give him more confidence. In fact Charlie chose London due to intelligence from his friends that the dark prince was stroking the streets snatching children and killing them for their life force. Charlie has vowed to track him down to the ends of the earth and beyond if it means putting an end to his evil schemes.
Character 11: Airman
Mark Peters was a good pilot; no he was a fantastic pilot. He could turn a plane on a penny. Friends believed he could see the wind currents in his mind and react to them to allow his plane to do things that no other pilot could.
Mark ran a small cargo company with his business partner Jeff Elsom. Jeff took care of the jobs and Mark took care of the flying. This worked out well for many years until Jeff’s mounting gambling debts started to cloud his business judgement. Way in over his head to one of the larger Mafia families he took a job carrying illegal substances across state lines unknown to Mark.
Half way through one such flight Mark, not realising what his cargo was started to get engine problems (they had been sabotaged by a rival gangster family). Sending out a mayday Mark grabbed his parachute and headed for the door it. Was as he was buckling up that he noticed one of the boxes had split and on the floor were packets of white powder. Realising what he was carrying he grabbed one and secured it under his flight jacket with the intention of confronting Jeff when he had landed.
He made a clean jump and at the right altitude pulled the cord only to find that some of the cables had been cut. Mark did manage to make it to the ground but the landing was not good. Later in hospital the doctor informed Mark he had broken his back and that he would never gain the use of his legs again. Also waiting for him was the police who wanted to know why he had a large packet of drugs on his person.
At the trial Jeff gave evidence against Mark showing false information that Mark had in fact brought in the job. The owner of the casino where Jeff gambled also gave evidence that Mark had lost big time at the tables thus giving the prosecution ammunition for motive. Mark was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years.
After doing his time Mark returned to society a beaten man with no job and no future he found a bottle and crawled into it. Mark spent the next two years living on the streets and was a common site sitting in his wheel chair begging for money to get his next bottle of gut rot.
Then one day a well-dressed oriental looking man approached him saying that his master would like to help get him back on the straight road to life. Mark told him where to go and carried on getting drunk but every day for the next four weeks the same man would approach him and offer the same help. In the end Mark realised that if he did meet this guys boss he could at least get a bottle or two out of it so the next time the young man came to him he accepted.
Mark was taken to a very Large secluded house where he was introduced to an elderly gentleman by the name of Lou Chi. Mr Chi was a wealthy businessman who had run foul of the Mafia some years earlier and as a result had lost all of his family in a gangland shooting. Chi had spent the intervening years studying the mafia operations and realised that although a man of wealth he would not be able to take revenge directly. He said that Mark’s case had come to his attention and he was prepared to offer Mark the ability to get his life back in exchange for killing all the mafia he came across.
Mark found this hilarious and a little sick pointing out that if Mr. Chi had not noticed he was crippled. Mr. Chi replied that that could be overcome, that also over the years he had come across a scroll that was able to give a man his hearts desire. Now Mark started to think this man mad with his grieve, why not use the scroll to destroy the mafia if it was as powerful as he believed. The scroll, informed Mr. Chi was not to be used for evil thoughts but it could give Mark the one thing he desired more than anything else the use of his legs. Mr. Chi realised this was a lot to take in and Mark should think it over for a while offering him a room in his house until he had made his decion.
Over the next couple of days Mark sobered up and spent evening with Mr. Chi discussing many subjects but never touching on the issue at hand. Mark came to like the old man and felt sad for his loss so much so that one evening he announced that he would do the ritual for him, believing that it would fail but at least it would convince the old man to move on with his life.
The night of the ritual arrived and Mark was asked to lay on the floor in the middle a circle of candles. As the ceremony started Mark felt at piece for the first time in many years. At the climax of the ritual Chi Asked Mark to concentrate on the one thing in the world he wanted more than anything else. As the last words were issued the room fell silent. Minutes passed but finally Chi asked Mark to stand up putting all his will into it Mark tried only to collapse seconds later from the effort with no positive results, Mark was still as crippled as he was before the ceremony.
Mr. Chi hung his head to hid his grieve from his friend and made to leave. Mark was so upset that he could not help the old man after all the kindness he had shown that before he knew what was happening he was standing next to him in the door way. With surprise they both looked down realising that Mark had not in fact walked over the Chi but had floated. With an exited look on his face he asked Mark what he his hearts desire had been, well answered Mark walking would have been great but all I’ve ever wanted to do again was fly.
Over the following months they tested his powers to find their limitations. Mark was able to fly at reasonable speeds, hover and dive, he found he was more agile in the air than when he had had his legs and could reach altitudes that would have made him pass out if he had been in a plane.
Realising for the first time that he could repay the old man’s kindness Mark started learning skills that would help him in his fight against the Mafia. Firstly the old man got instructors to teach him how to fight hand to hand then more instructors to teach him to shoot guns. Lastly he hired people to teach him how to pick locks and gather information. After three more years of training they both agreed that Mark was skilled enough to go out and start his rain of terror on the villains that suckled off the poor and innocent of the city. On the night of his first foray into the dark would of crime Chi presented Mark with a fight suit lined with mesh telling him it was designed to help protect him from small arms fire and knife attacks.
And the flight cap had anti flash goggles.
Thus started the career of the Airman protector of the streets and terror of the criminals.
Appearance.
Airman dresses in the old style chocolate brown leather flight jacket with fur collar. Cream trousers 9slightly baggy at the sides), knee length black leather flight boots and the old style aviators leather cap and black glass goggles. Airman carries two matt black automatic pistols in shoulder holsters and a bowie knife in a boot holster.
Hi All,
Well it's been a few weeks since I posted all these character backgrounds and apart from Attis (thanks) I've had no feedback from anyone :( . Come on guys which ones do you like / dislike can you see any mileage in using them in your game, do you want to have a go at statting them up.
I'm a big boy so will be able to take good, bad and indifferent comments :)  without getting into a flame war with anyone, I'd just like to know what people think.
Regards

But once you slay the Bush then you become thy warrior of Zoo crow to have love with. Ja son san knew his journey to be tough and called upon a true asian Bri han. Bri han came in on his trusty Honda, as all true asians do. The two became good amigos and fought many harsh battles. Over the years their names became well known. One day they came acrossed a beautiful asian and fought over her in a battle of ddr. With their strengths being equal they decided to have the lord of all lands decide the fate. The great kul son ic was there to have them battle in a great cause.

Not sure what you mean but if you have any comments on the characters I'd like to hear them.

JT,
These write ups are great. Are these characters for a game you’re running/playing in, or just characters you’ve written up for the sheer enjoyment?
What I would like to see is a few villains to counter these super humans or maybe just a story involving them all. You obviously like to write and I wouldn’t mind if you posted some of your super hero musings here.

Just finished reading them all.
Fairytale reminds me of the Changeling game.
I really like the concept behind Rescue however. I may use a similar character as an NPC in my game. The way his powers manifest is really cool.

I also see you are using the Freedom City supplement for M&M. Are using it for the setting of your game or just a common bakground setting for the characters.
I kinda got locked into it as my GA game started life as a M&M game before it "got an editorial reshuffle" so to speak.

Those pesky editors, Always taking a book in a new direction.
Did you at least get a double sized issue to explain the transistion? :p

Mirror was the first character I wrote up but my GM thought it to sensitive subject matter for his style of campaign so I never used him. I have written him up for GA and thought I'd posted him here sometime ago but can't seem to locate the post.
I've heard of Changling but never read it. Fairytale came from the fact that my draughter likes having stories read to her so I make them up the little monsters I designed as friends for her so she wouldn't be scared of the dark.
Rescue was designed with the thought that why do we need to always play a superman type character with exessive powers I wanted to see if I could play one that wasn't combat orientated.
The others just came to me through my warped mind and I have no excuse for them.
By the way all the characters were origninally designed for M&M but I started to hate the D20 system even though M&M is the best of the lot. When GA was republished I jumped at the chance to convert them all. then real life took over and I had to give up gaming for a while and haven't had 5 minutes piece to sit down and put together a campaign yet.
