I have no clue! It works for me. And I haven't altered or changed anything on the NA!P web page, so it can't be that.
Try emailing or calling your ISP and asking them. Everything works 100% OK for me with both web pages.
OK, I've tried viewing the page through a lot of different browsers and even disconnecting from the Internet, connecting back up and attempting to view it again. Everything works fine. You sure everything's OK on your end? It all seems to be OK here. I get no error messages at all. Hmmm...
Hey! Did you just install WAMP? 'Cause if you did, that may be the problem! Check this thread out: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185223&goto=nextoldest
Use the "search" function of your browser to search for the words "connection refused".

The only thing NA!P and my site have in common is our host.
I'm being served from 205.196.214.158.
NA!P is being served from 66.33.222.144.
Um...it probably does have something to do with requests being redirected to the localhost, but not for any good reason. I usually get weird connection refusals when I'm dicking around with my HOSTS file, trying to block out ad sites, and accidentally cut off some nominally legitimate segment of the Internet.
Jeff, if you've got some ad-blocking software, or if you mess around with the HOSTS file, just look for those IP addresses or for these server names:
Name: basic-quack.pernod.dreamhost.com
Address: 66.33.222.144
Name: basic-sith.vex.dreamhost.com
Address: 205.196.214.158
Not sure how much explanation about that you need, but that's prob the prob.
zer0, I didn't mean to imply anything was wrong with the web page. It's definitely all on my computer. I've been having this problem for awhile now. Occasionally the pages load but I usually get that error. I'm the only one though.
While Brent was here using my wireless, he had no problems at all. I haven't changed any settings on my computer.
I'll check out that other stuff and take a look at what my firewall might be doing also.

Hey, actually, why don't you email me your email? I can send you a copy of *my* HOSTS file, and you can see if replacing your existing one helps. P.S. What browser are you using?
Oh yeah, also, I don't have any ad-blocking software. And I don't know what the HOSTS thing is.
The only thing different that happened before I had this problem was I was checking the NA!P stats via the dreamhost stats thing and entered the wrong name and password. I don't know why that would continue to give me this problem. Unless my firewall detected something strange and decided to block something. Although, it would seem weird that Brent and Kendal didn't have problems while being behind the same wall.

Yeah, it's not gonna be your firewall--unless you got some enterprise-class (i.e. $1000) hardware firewall, you just have a NAT firewall, which doesn't pay any attention to discrete IP addresses.
I'm sort of thinking that it might be something relatively easy? You have Windows 2000 or XP, yah? Do this:
open a DOS prompt (start, run, command)
type:
ipconfig /flushdns
then go into IE, clear out temp files, all offline content, then see if it works. I bet it will, yeah, baby! Ungh!
I'll give that a try.
*trying*
So far it seems to be working! Although, it does this in fits and starts. Thanks Mongo!
I'll post again if I have any more trouble. Or check out my firewall if something else acts up.
Bah. It's working just as spottily as it was before.
The Quicklinks on the homepage always shows up though. I don't know what THAT'S about!

Quel strange.
What browser do you use?
I use Explorer. But Netscape does the same thing on my machine. I don't have any other browsers installed.

Oh yeah? I betcha, then, that it's something to do with your HOSTS file.
Just do a search on your C: drive for a file named "HOSTS" (no file extension). When you find it, open it up (in Notepad) and dump the contents into a message here and I'm fairly certain we'll find the problem.

No need to apologize, dude! Although, there are probably a ton of errors in my coding for the front page, come to think of it. But then again, it looks perfect on every browser I've tested it in, so why bother going for a bug-hunt, right?
Hope your problems were resolved by Mongo's handy troubleshooting. M-O-N-G-O! (Clapclapclap) M-O-N-G-O! (Clapclapclap)
Say that reminds me! When're you finally gonna post that tech support story, Mongo? THE PUBLIC WANTS TO KNOW!1!!
This is all that's in the HOSTS file:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost

Oh, hey, I just thought of something you could try.
Go to command window (DOS prompt) and type
ping www.kingmongo.com
And tell me what IP address you get. I'll bet money that it replies with
127.0.0.1
which would definitively indicate a localhost routing thingy.
Here's what I get:
