AM ager is back up NOW. 200 turns/one every 15 min. AoA's calling up our old members.

To sign in, use your old main account name and p/w:
www.magewar.com/archmage/2001play.html

The ager utilities on our web page have been updated, if you want to reincarnate with a long name or play with a useful menu frame. http://www9.brinkster.com/aoa/.

Oh God, Grinch, don't do this to me. Actually, I can't do this to myself.

But Nicole, now she would definitely shine in Archmage.

Oh, and the rest of y'all would, too.

Jeff

I signed up as Supermummy. But I forgot how to play. Strategy? Who needs it?

Brent
07-01-2003, 04:42 PM
Hmm. It won't let me used caps for my game name.

AND! Someone has claimed "greased" -- who the heck would that be?

THEN, I went to the brinkster site to try and sign in via that interface, but didn't find where I could do so.

ARGH!

Who hit who in the what now? What's this? What's going on? WHAaAT?

(Read: too lazy to figure it out myself).

Archmage?

Brent
07-01-2003, 10:30 PM
It's a free online fantasy game in which you run a kingdom and attack other kingdoms with your various mythological creatures that you recruit and support. Oh, and you cast magic. And people join guilds that protect each other. Best part by far is that you can taunt your enemy as you pillage their lands! Oh, and community. That's a plus too.

Wow, that sounds like procrastination if ever I heard it!

I'll email you the ezboard passes. Old members are automatically in, new ones have to be approved, but it's a pretty quick process, and with a name like Chocolate Ninja you'll be accepted for sure :)

I'll be away for the weekend but you can talk to Wench for anything you need.

The brinkster's a little funky. Click Login on the left menu to enter your account name and password, and hit "play". (Your account name isn't necessarily the same as your mage name any more). The click Enter Server on the left menu. It also works if log in on a different screen, and then pull up the menu frame separately.

Okay, I'm in, but dammit, I forget how to play :)

Don't bother giving me advice, I've already used my 200 turns. Har.

i used to play but never joined up in a clan, then my school blocked it and i was forced to play it on the spanish version, it really helped with my spanish. also might i be so bold as to ask if i may join AoA. also i'm elbandito, b/c it would not let me be el_bandito

whenever i log on to archmage, it automatically takes me to archspace why?

Cappy Ahab
07-03-2003, 07:47 AM
I have the exact same problem.

Here's the solution. Play Archspace instead. It is just as inscrutable! Plus, as it is still in beta, there are far more bugs!

Man, this is the most helpful I've been since that time I indexed the forum.

Brent
07-03-2003, 09:16 AM
That thing's been in beta since, like, forever and shit.

El Bandito

i've already started playing it

Cappy Ahab

Since neither I nor El Bandaid can get Archmage to display its wares, please describe to us the primary differences between Archmage and Archie Comics Magazine.

Ken

Man, I died already. From random attacks. Of course, I didn't play at all over the 4-day weekend, so it serves me right. So I'm starting over!

The key to getting into Archmage, not Archspace, is to use the AoA web link that The Grinch provided. Hit the Login link in the top left hand corner, and you will be logged into Archspace for some reason. But then if you then click on the Enter Ager 1 link, you're suddenly logged into Archmage. At least that trick has worked for me.

But then remember to play on the weekends, or you'll die like me.

Jeff
07-07-2003, 04:23 PM
I didn't play all weekend and one guy attacked me and failed. So I kicked his ass hard twice. Now he's left with just one fortress. I hope someone kills him. Ha ha ha ha ha.

Cappy Ahab
07-08-2003, 09:07 PM
If only I could die like Ken.

At least Ken comes back. When I die, I stay dead.

Sorry to be late answering - I was away for a long weekend.

Welcome back Ken. And Bandito, please check out our rules, policies and other stuff (http://pub141.ezboard.com/fangelsoftheapocalypseabouttheangelsoftheapocalypse). Our approach to the game isn't exactly normal, so AoA is not for everyone, but if you still want to join after you read everything, we'll nominate you for membership.

When you first sign in to Archmage, you'll get the Archspace screen, 'cause the don't know wtf they're doing, but it means you're signed on to your account. Now open the AoA(tm) menu frame (http://www9.brinkster.com/aoa/utilities/menuindex.html), click on "Enter Ager" at the top left, and you should be ready to go (exactly as Ken said).

One more thing - we basically thrive off of shared counters (when someone hits one of us, we gang up on the attacker until we recover all our land). That means participation in the AoA forum (http://pub141.ezboard.com/bangelsoftheapocalypse) is really important for active membership. It's a little extra work, but you have another board to hang out in. All the walls there are padded so we don't hurt ourselves :p There's even a board devoted to Jeff-worship!

Brent
07-09-2003, 11:01 AM
Wee! I keep remembering things!

Like, build towns to farms in a 1:3 ration! (Unless that's changed)

And, like, don't forget to assign spells and items to your defense (Unless that's changed)

And, uhm... build fortresses (AHEM, "Duck Wonder").

El Bandito
07-09-2003, 01:35 PM

Brent

Hey can anyone tell me if my High Archwizard and Galactic Slayer, Donna has died in Archmage yet? I forgot how to log back in and I get sleepy every time I start to reread the two-line instructions on how to hop back on.

Also, I didn't feel like reading the instructions on how to play, so I blew all my time building unprotected farms.

In any case, let me know when Donna dies. She was driving me nuts. Better yet, why don't the Angels of the Opthamologists gang up and wage war on her. You'll pillage a lot of prime farmland!

Then kill her. Thanks.

In case you haven't paid much attention the past few days...

Archamge UBB (http://ubb.magewar.com/cgi-bin/AMubbUS/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro&BypassCookie=true&category=4) is back up (but the link in the game doesn't work).

Our old buddy Buzzrock is now the manager of the server...

Buzz is demanding that all scripts and bots be shut down - part of a crackdown on cheaters. When he didn't get adequate compliance, he pulled the plug on the server, which is why it's been down this week. (Personally, I think they're doing some other work and need it down anyway, so he's using it to crack the whip, but that's just my theory).

Brent
07-17-2003, 12:06 PM
How did Buzz turn into The Man (Well, not "The Man" but you kno what I mean)?

Ken
07-17-2003, 01:05 PM
Ever since Donna died, my heart hasn't been in it anyways. *sniff*

Grinch, I hope you let us know when the server is back up because you know we're too lazy to check ourselves.

The Grinch
08-01-2003, 08:03 AM
Buzz says he's trying to get it back up this weekend (http://ubb.magewar.com/AMubbUS/Forum1/HTML/001224.html) (if it's fixed), so check in once in a while. Personally I thought it was mighty nice of him to turn it off for the duration of my Jamaican vacation (http://pub141.ezboard.com/fangelsoftheapocalypsefrm51.showMessage?topicID=104.topic). :p

And Brent - apparently Buzz has been in contact with Mari for some time. At one point I think he offered to buy Ager server. As of sometime this year, the North American servers of AM and Archspace have been placed under the management of an American spinoff company from Maritel of Korea. Buzz applied for and got the positon of GSM (general service manager I think).

Do we have to restart?

Iuz
08-02-2003, 04:06 AM
its back up and no mages are still there.
so unless you died, which wouldnt surprise me, yer still there.
i could visit your lands if you want, the right side needs a slap now and then... :p

Cappy Ahab

Donna's still dead. I bet she's with Ritchie Valens now.

The Grinch
08-04-2003, 08:22 PM
It's not a restart, it's just back up where we left off.

The Grinch
08-06-2003, 06:37 AM
NM, server's back down until September for a major overhaul. I think we'll restart then. I'll come get y'all when it's back up. Archmage boards will stay open, if you want to go harrass Buzz.

Cappy Ahab
08-06-2003, 10:40 AM
Whoo hoo! So, Donna won?

The Grinch
09-04-2003, 09:24 AM
AM is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Monday 19 September. (http://ubb.magewar.com/AMubbUS/Forum1/HTML/001269.html) The game will run on 10 minute turns instead of 15 minutes. You'll only be able to create a mage for THE FIRST 2 WEEKS (a precaution to limit multimaging) so build yer forts and DON'T GET KILLED, okay?

Cappy Ahab
09-04-2003, 10:42 AM
Yeah! Go Donna!

Brent
09-04-2003, 10:49 AM
You'd think, after all these years, they'd have found a cure for multi-maging by now. And cancer.

Cappy Ahab
09-04-2003, 10:57 AM
That's the sad thing. Multi-maging cures cancer, and vice versa. But what are you going to do?

Brent
09-04-2003, 01:01 PM
Cry, my friend. Cry.

The Grinch
09-05-2003, 06:13 AM
There are ways to cure multimaging. The challenge is to do it without cutting out honest players, and without spending any money.

Cappy Ahab
09-05-2003, 07:47 AM
Uhm. Give them cancer!

The Grinch
09-15-2003, 08:54 AM
Update: Archmage is still down, and Buzz quit in disgust because Mari was jerking him around and doing nothing to get it going again.

The good news is there appears to be an alternative called The Five pillars (http://t5p.jaggu.org/). It looks like AM done by someone who knows AM well and has fixed a lot of what's wrong with it and added things to make it more interesting. (For example, there is a built-in stack calculator.) Their reset just started today, and I've started up AoA as a guild there on the slow server.

Seriously, a lot of AM substitutes have been stupid, but this one looks pretty good.

Cappy Ahab
09-15-2003, 11:52 AM
So, did I win ArchMage?

Cappy Ahab
09-16-2003, 02:19 PM
Fiddlesticks!

Donna the Wizardette accidentally meditated for the next three days!

Makes a brother want to multimage.

PS--Maritime Brent Delimiter decimated. Nothing else of interest to repor...

My God. It's full of stars.

Greetings,

It's your old friend, nemisis, or cohort. I hope this missive finds you all well. Life in the Legion's still much the same as it's always been. Several admire us and respect us, others avoid us at all costs. It does seem that the more things change, the more they stay the same, yes?

Regardless, it's been some time, Lord Greased. Perhaps too long. Good day to you and yours.

Yours in Honour,
Lord Kendricke,

Hey guys, I can't believe I finally stumbled upon a place where people still talk about Archmage. Umm, its been like about 4, or more, years since I last played and I cannot for the life of me seem to find it. If someone could please tell me how to get there, or just e-mail me about it, then I'd be really grateful because I miss playing this game.
